We have our bye week coming up, and I think it's a good time to work on some team building. Any unique ideas to bring our team closer together at mid-season?

Ultimate football, like ultimate Frisbee, but you constantly pass the ball or lateral until tackled. Once tackled, the offensive player gets up and is given a three yard cushion to pass the ball. The game is continuous and looks like Rugby. You can change the rules to only lateral and no forward passes if you want.

Does anyone have an exercise, or a task, that requires everyone on the team to work together to complete it. My idea is to show them in a concrete way that we all have to work together to be successful. Any ideas along these lines?

That's a popular, fun-filled activity around here.

I'll tell you what we did....
On Monday of the game week, we spent a full hour going over the previous week's game film. We rarely spent THAT much time. Then we went to the field and did all technique work (no scrimmaging).
On Tuesday, we spent an hour on technique and fundamentals, then got ready for an annual community event we do that week, called "Knight Under the Lights."
On Wednesday of that week, we planned a 2-hour team building activity. We lucked out and got heavy rain that day and it forced us to do it in our team room, which was a bit cramped but served a good purpose to bring us together. We left the meeting feeling very good about our camaraderie, and worked out some of the minor conflicts that were going on between a few of our players.
On Thursday we had a typical day-before the game type of practice. We also introduced a preliminary scouting report with video on our next opponent, and gave the team "things to watch for" if they went to our next opponent's game the following night.
As a Head Coach, my objective for bye week was to 1) Get healthy but maybe more importantly not to get someone hurt during bye week practice. Therefore there was no LIVE hitting. We still did tackling drills, but we don't bring to the ground anyway. 2) Sharpen up mentally by learning from the last game, and also bring the team together with a tighter bond than it had the previous week. 3) Get a head-start on our next opponent
We ended up winning three of our last four and coming very close to winning our league. The bye week objectives were met, and I felt like it wasn't a wasted week (like I've had in some previous years).
