I'm looking to change up some things in our pregame routine - something different. What do you do to get your players ready to play and pumped to take the field?
Look forward to reading what you guys do.

We do "Pits". I think people call them "Oklahoma's". Not sure if it is the same.
The beauty of it is...after we warm up on the field we do "Pits". We are thrashing each other and if the other team looks over they see us thrashing each other. I am guessing they are thinking "WTF are they doing over there" and "Holy S--- those dudes are killing each other right before the game". Obviously we are under control, but highly motivated.

We like to keep them pretty loose to start with and then build up our "focus" with our pregame warm ups as the game nears, right before the game we want them in a feeding frenzy.

I've went to scout teams that have their receivers run 20+ go routes, and 20 post routes, heck there is no way those kids are going to have enough gas to finish the game at full speed. Meanwhile the linemen stand around for 30 minutes doing nothing when they haven't done one rep of fundamental blocking or other skills in 48 hours or more. It makes no sense!

live double team drills, live trap
run plays on air
qbs get to throw a few passes and backs and tes get to catch a few.
no chanting, cheering or silly stuff like that...a moment of silence every game just before kickoff, a minute for boys to use it how they wish.

When we first get to the stadium, we do the normal passing lines, specialties, etc. and then get off of our feet for a while. Bathroom break, and then we get ready for position-specific drills. To start, we have the kids group together by positions in our endzone. Each coach is at his pregame area. Coaches raise their arm (from farthest to nearest the endzone)- each position then breaks with their saying (ex. LBS- HUH!!!). We do position specific drills to start- QBs/RBs doing handoff/timing drills (we run the wing T); O-lineman going over first steps; Receivers- stance and starts/ball drills, etc. After this, we run plays on air on offense- defense goes over pursuit. Then we jog it in to the 30- punt twice to work on coffin kicks, then do one extra point- one field goal. We always make sure to make it easy field goals for confidence sake. We do these two special teams because these are the ones that have hurt us most in the past. After the field goals, we get our prayer, coach gives his pre-game speech- then we line up holding hands- 2 lines facing our opponent. Assistant coaches get in a big circle, with one coach where the kids will break off at. On head coach's whistle, the kids come out, break off in opposite directions, slapping hands with each coach on his way around the circle- then with each teammate on his way around the circle. We do this because our kids are too freaking stupid to understand the concept of a circle (LOL). Captains in the middle. Once everyone is set around the circle, we do a breakdown on the whistle-then spell it out. After that, everybody up- jump around- they do their thing. We finish right before the anthem, then game time. Kids love it. We find it works for us.

Just to show a contrast (not trying to persuade anyone... this is what we do though): HOME Time on game clock 7:00 Game Time (Est.).......4:35............Meeting ...............4:40.............Film ............... 5:00............Dress / Tape ............... 5:30-5:35 ....Review Starters ............... 5:35-5:45 ...Defensive Team meeting ............... 5:45-5:55....Defensive Group meeting ............... 5:55-6:05 ...Offensive Group meeting ............... 6:05-6:15 ...Offensive Team meeting ............... 6:15-6:20 ....General Meeting .............. 6:28.............Specials Depart * we ride down to the field...8 blks. @ home 24:00..... 6:31.............Specials ................6:35.............Team Depart 18:00..... 6:37.............Team Arrive 16:00-8:00. 6:39-6:47..Warm Up/ Dynamic Stretch 8:00-3:00.. 6:47-6:52..Groups 3:00-0:50.. 6:52-6:55..Signal (Team) 0:00.......... 6:55..........Anthem / Coin Toss ...................7:00..........Kickoff 16 min. of warm-up (team...specials K, P, LS, QB, Rec. get a few more min.) is about all we can stand... we've shortened it every year. The least we've ever done was 8 (bus driver forgot to pick us up at the school for an away game.... we walked about 1 mi. to the stadium... 8 min we were a bit too rushed .)
