Hey, just wondering if you guys have made any interesting training tools for your team. I made a ball on a stick, but just wondering what else people out there have made to aid them in coaching

In my mind I'm seeing a big wooden door with a frame out on the field, with guys running around and a linebacker seeing "open door" only to have a coach slam it shut and make the player look like a cartoon character. If this is accurate, I want one.

actually they used it like this
have a ballcarrier break off one way or another off the closed door and then the person responsible for that gap (the closed door) would then break one way or another and make the tackle
just a way to get people to understand the concept of open door closed door
we will do the same thin with our rb's this year

Built an agility chute out of PVC.
Place agile dummies underneath. Height was adjustable by moving the legs in or out.
Great tool for teaching kids to bend at the ankles, knees, and hips.

We're fortunate to have a vocational side to our school as well as academic. We have a great welding program that has helped us out a lot, most recently with a tackling sled. In the past we've had them make us a linemen chute, an agility ladder and a two man sled. It makes for great fabrication projects for the program and we get some equipment for our program

I got this from the Indiana Wishbone Association and then made some myself. Took 6 inch PVC pipe and cut them into 1 foot sections, then cut them in half. Lineman do their steps over the PVC to make sure that they take a perfect step.

Linemen Boards - Instead of buying them we got the size and bought the wood and then painted them our team colors.

Had a passing net fabricated for QBs to rep "catch & throw" for the quick game. Net extends to ground with a low target for and intermediate target for punt and FG snappers.

I actually made the first ball on a string for defensive line coaches. Always ticked me off when d-line coaches had their drills start on "hut" - or worse a whistle!
I also was the first person ever to have a watch attached to the clipboard. One salesmen saw my crude model at a football clinic and the next year had them manufactured. I coulda been rich$$$$$$!
Lets see- had old sun glasses painted so that the kids could not see out of them and had them run their pass routes. Got them to focus on their proper steps.
I also invented the internet with Al Gore.

Weighted balls - Filled with beans. Trying to do something similar- how did you do this one? and does anyone else have a better way of weighting a ball?

Who is Norm Abrams? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I just mentioned the boards as they are expensive to buy in comparision to quickly making your own...its crazy how much money they try to make off football programs. The bean filled weighted balls worked pretty good. It was cheap too. Just go to the grocery store and get a bag of Red Kidney beans. Open a small hole, fill it up, tape it up (Good Ol Duck Tape) and there you go?
