not really looking for the rules on this so much but do you think this was a bad or late hit in any way?

I really do not understand THIS call as well as MANY other "late hits" and/or "roughing the QB" calls....

The officiating crew should not be allowed to work a Pop Warner game. This was a huge BLOWN call along with the final one of the day ... offsides on Iowa's onside kick attempt. Ugly.

I'm guessing the helmet to helmet contact is why it got called, but I'm not in agreement with the call.

The replay on TV cleary showed there was NO helmet to helmet contact. The Iowa defenders left arm came across the head, but the last time I checked the game was tackle football. The ref blew the call big time. I don't know what game had the worst officials. The alamo bowl or the outback bowl. They both were very poor jobs.

I thought that was helmet(actually facemask) to helmet contact -- wasn't sure if it should have been a penalty though. The talkingheads wrongly said it was his arm that hit his head. It was his facemask that made the intial contact. Just look at the video.

It looks helmet-to-helmet to me. Is the runner sliding? If so, I think a flag should have definately been thrown. This bowl season, I've seen quite a few LB's hitting a sliding QB. Either way, it looks from that view, that the tackler was leading with his helmet anyway. Good call IMO.
I should note, I didn't see it live, nor have I watched the tape of it yet. It's next on my list of the stuff on my DVR to watch...

if the defender DOESN'T duck his head (alter the path of his moving body) and the BC continues on his original course, wouldn't the defender fly right over the BC (missing the tackle)?
I'm not an apologist for Iowa, but movement / speed can be difficult to control - THE FURTHER AWAY FROM THE FIELD - THE EASIER IT LOOKS.

This is tackle football. I really thought there was some bad officiating during this bowl season. I think we should take away all rules protecting the QB except for blatant late hits when he is throwing. Why should he be treated any different than a WR or a RB? If he runs too bad, does the FB have the option iof sliding to avoid getting killed? I know QBs are usually of smaller build than other positions but I mean really a guy like Chad Henne of Michigan is 6-4 225. Anyway that is my opinion and I could be wrong.

The angle is poor. On TV they showed multiple angles and it was not helmet to helmet contact. Did the defender have his head down and lead with the crown of his helmet? The QB's head was below the iowa defenders helmet. poor call.

Terrible call.
Terrible calls the entire game.
The offsides was the worst.
Or maybe it was the facemasking.
Or maybe it was the helmet to helmet call.
