I'm looking for someone to give me some insight as to how you call your "check with me at the line" system. I read an article where the QB comes to the line and either calls 1-run right, 2-run left, or 3-pass. Does anyone do this? If so, what do you SPECIFICALLY teach the QB to read so that he puts you in the right call? Thanks for your reply!

There is a no-huddle thread from a couple weeks ago that Coach Huey has an excellent post about this type of thing. He talks about how they use a few different coaches to check the box, coverage, etc. to check the play, and take it off of the QB's shoulders. Really good stuff.

we have done trap, veer, and belly check with me.....
That's how it will be called in the huddle.
We will trap to the 3 technique, veer to the 1 technique, and belly to the 3 technique.
All the QB has to do is find out where those two inside guys are at and we're good.

We will have Check With Me (CWM) plays from time to time, if not week to week. We call these in the huddle and then allow the QB to check for the defensive alignment we're wanting. Our cadence has colors and numbers on every call, regardless of CWM plays being called or not. Example: "CWM - 42/43 Veer on 1". This tells the OL and RB's to listen at the LOS for the call. If we go to the LOS and the DT on the right side is in a 1 tech. and the DT on the left is in a 3 tech. (we want to run to the 1), then the QB will start his cadence and give the number 42 behind the color (Blue 42, Blue 42), thus giving the OL and the RB's the play = 42 Veer.

we really look to see if you balance up. if you don't we will run weak on you. we are balanced...almost all the time.

We either give them two plays i.e. Sweep Check Quick Game, or call the same play to both sides, i.e. Zone Check

Nice audible system champyun! As have been running the spread/flex option game the last several years we have gone to an "opposite" call with almost everything within the playbook as far as the run game goes. Still looking for a scrimmage champyun?

Gun option team, always pair 2 running plays together. One to the FB's aligned side and one opposite. Play is called on outside inverts.

i know in college the coaches would gameplan different ones each week. say you have watched film and they have 2 different fronts that you see. lets say one is even and one is odd. you find a run that you like against the even and one that you like against odd. tag that particular set of plays with a name. call that name as your play. let your qb come up and look at the front then call out the play you want to run. however you want to do that is up to you. obviously things get a little more complicated than 2 fronts, but you can just use that as a base to build from

Still looking for a scrimmage champyun? Yeah, I don't know where I got it from! As far as a scrimmage, tell MM that I understand if he doesn't want any of us. ;D
