3rd and goal at the 2.
Clock is ticking
0-0
Offense is rushing to the LOS to run a play, out of timeouts.
Defense subs in a player, is unprepared, out of position
Offense snaps the ball scores a TD.
Flag is thrown on defense for 12 men on the field...moves the ball 1 whole yard.
TD is waved off, offense has to call a different play because they showed their hand.
Defense now has the right personel and in the right positions.
CLOCK BEGINS TO TICK!
Offense rushes to the line and is stuffed...rushes for play#2 and runs out of time.
How frustrating is THAT!? We lost in OT 6-0. Grrr

Correct me if I am wrong. However you could have declined the penalty and taken the TD. All penalties are declineable except dead ball penalties.

I would love to see : A) if this rule was correctly applied. I am pretty sure the scoring team tried their best to decline it (meaning it wasn't the coach's idea to take the points off the board). If it was correctly applied...time to get to a competition committee rules meeting. IF THE OFFICIALS MISAPPLIED THE RULE:
B) I would love to see what/how the officials association handles it.

Alabama got a illegal substitution penalty on a point after yesterday. How would you make sure and get a dead ball illegal substitution? Running a guy on late won't do it; will it?
Looked to me like they did it on purpose because the play before was "iffy" and could've been reviewed. Houston was getting ready to kick it and the ref stopped play and called the penalty. Probably gave the guy up in the box a minute and a half extra of reviewing the play.
Not sure if this was done on purpose, but if so it was pure genius.

Basically, the play ran...was a quick hitter...the ref was blowing the whistle I thought end the play and signal a touchdown. Instead he blew it dead for the dead ball foul.
Please tell me that ref didn't screw up...and it was not suppose to be a dead ball foul...

We lost in OT 6-0. Grrr Coach: I'm no official, BUT -- waving off the TD can only happen following a dead-ball foul, on the theory that a legal snap never took place, whether the play was whistled dead before the snap or not...in fact, under NFHS rules, any live-ball foul on the defense is automatically waved off if the offense scores a TD. BUT -- what you describe had to be either Illegal Participation or Illegal Substitution -- and I'm pretty sure those are live-ball fouls...you may want your AD to take this up with your officials' association...
