Alright boys, you want some evidence of how useless static stretch is- www.nsca-lift.org/Press/Releases/Static%20Stretching.pdfCheck it out- this is one of the early studies done, and if you go to www.nsca.com and do a search on the issue, you will find multiple studies done that show what dynamic and static stretching does (and doesn't do) for your athletes...

static stretching for flexibility can decrease performance of muscles up to 25%. Therefor staic stretching is bad before a game/practice is bad. Dynamic warm ups are the only way to go imo.. AGain st Johns is another great example of how this can work for your program! Do you have proof of that statistic? Not saying I disagree...I just want to prove to the coach's at all levels where I coach why Dynamic stretching is the way to go. The proof I have is from a Phd Olympic trainer. I guess he could be lying to me however 'll take his word. Everything else he's told me has worked out great. I believe that the info he provided to me was from a study he read recently. I'll see if I can dig up some info on this. I've also read in many different forums and web sites dedicated to sports performance the same thing. www.charliefrancis.com www.elitefts.com www.powerdevelopmentinc.com and so on........ if anything, just from personal experience I find this to be true!

The head track coach is going to this type of stretching this year after talking to some of the more successful coachs in the area. Another varsity football coach and myself are also track coaches. If it works well for us, were going to try and convince our HFC to go with it. We only have a limited time to practice due to the bus schedule and if we could save 15 minutes at the beginning of practice it would be very beneficial.
