How do you assistants deal with head coaches that micromanage everything to death?

I think a coach that lays out his expectations is the best kind to work for. knowing up front what his expectations and vision and plan are is sooo important...however, once you have been coached and have the philosophy down you should be able to coach within your personality dont you think? can you give more examples of micromanaging that youre experiencing?....

I would rather have a coach that micromanages as opposed to one that does not manage at all

Def: micromanagement is an example of poor management where the manager over-manages people unnecessarily. Instead of giving people general instructions and then allowing them to do their job, the micromanager monitors and assesses every step. The manager may be motivated by concern for details. The effect, however, may be to de-motivate employees and create resentment So random thoughts he has hmmm

I do not know if this is micromanagement but i coached with a guy who would go livid if the ball boys were playing catch on the sidelines during warm-ups. These were 8th graders who volunteered and he would go balistic if they played catch 2 hours before game time.

JMC I think that is anal. and uptight..not micromaniging:)
I had the pleasure and privledge of working for a HC at the college level that allowed his Coordinators to do that..Coordinate their offenses and defenses. He then coordinated the entire team, and it was a very successful manner of handling our business.
