I subscribed to American Football Monthly...any better out there? Reccommendations? I would appreciate any and all input. What about places to get DVD's? price? selection, quality? Thanks.

I have a school subscription to AFM but I believe most of "my" good ideas in the past year have come from this site, with the rest coming from clinics. I still get the occasional nugget from a magazine but this forum and meeting with other coaches is the biggest help for me.

I agree with Tog. You could purchase lots of subscriptions, but you don't get the question and answer opportunities from a magazine that you get from this board.

This site is more informative on a regular basis than any magazine, and you can get quick feedback to any question. Not only are the responses quick but you will get a variety of different possible solutions to your questions. It's like having an instant clinic available every day of the week.

I have subscribed to AFM for a long time...back when it was American Football Quarterly...so for 10+ years. Over that time I have seen more and more pages devoted to advertising and less and less to articles I can use. There is always useful stuff in the magazine but I really don't care for all the "gossip/small talk" filler BS they throw in there.
Tog is right about this site. There is a ton more useful information here than in a volume of any football coaching mag our there...and it is free.

I enjoy reading the publications you get as a AFCA member, but as stated before, here is just as good. Considering I subscribe to Time, US News, SI, SportingNews, ESPN the mag, Playboy, and Maxim in addition to the two or three AFCA publications, the last thing I need is more magazine subscriptions anyway!!!

No doubt this is the "Promised Land"....but I want something that I can read as i travel or while in a classroom...I have no laptop. And as far as getting the DVD's from here I have dealt with individuals who are WORLDCLASS and help beyond belief. But untill I can get a DVD burner and return favors to those guys I can't in good consious ask for more. I will have a DVD burner shortly and you guys who gave to me I will give you everything I get with them. sooooooo....Which DVD player/burner combos are best? Priced reasonably? Will the DVD's that I have burned play on a TV DVD player or only my computer? Most importantly though, what to buy to copy these DVD's so I can give back to the dudes who helped me.

It's not a magazine but the Nike Coach of the Year Manuals make good reading. They have a wide variety of topics in relatively short articles. They cost about $25 each but I think they're worth it.
