why I love posting on this site. www.jcfb.com/forum/messageview.aspx?catid=19&threadid=12421&enterthread=yJerry campbell's site seems to only have a clique of posters who mainly disregard those who do not post as much...... or, there are always dudes who want to show how smart they are when it comes to football. There is no such thing as an opinion on that site it seems. If you challenge an idea in a mature manner, you still get ripped!!!!!!! Jerry however, is a great fella with loads of great info and his site does provide good information, but no FUN!!!! Coaches on this site, keep on rollin baby, I LOVE IT!!!!!

I agree JC is a great guy and has helped me find materials a couple of times, but they need to find some good moderators. That said, it's nowhere near as bad as the Old Coaches board. That thing is like a a bunch of 5th graders arguing. I remember a thread about the d-line turning into a liberal vs. conservative arguement. I've never been back there since.
You guys here have done a great job of keeping things awesome. Thanks again!

There is room for all those sites. They each serve their own purposes.
We want this site to be THE site people come to to ask a question and get a good answer about football. Period.

we are not trying to "compete" with any other board. our only competition, as we see it, is ourselves. we have goals and expectations that we are constanly trying to raise and achieve. thank you for being a part of this.
i know coach campbell personally. who will be hard-pressed to find a better coach or man. please, do not take some of the incidents of a few on that board and assume that is the norm for their forum as a whole. i, too, frequent that site and will make posts (although, it is less and less as time goes by) on certain topics. learn what lessons you can from any possible place. some lessons can be learned from an assumed "ripping" that can happen on other boards.
again, the strength of the wolf is in the pack

Swarm, If I made you feel that way in any way please let me know. I was involved in that exchange, and it would be helpful to know so I can improve.
I actually ran into the guy I think you were talking about on another board and had to scrap my way out of posting with him - He was direct and extremely combative. I thought we were trying to help coaches where we can by sharing ideas.
He went after Huey a bit too. Huey handled it like a pro as always. I couldn't resist writing a few thoughts back.
Again, if I am in your mind as well, as I was in that exchange, and do try to sound "smart", I apologize. If so, please PM me with any suggestions you feel might be helpful so I don't come across that way anymore.

dsqa,
In no way was that link directed at you. It was mainly about the fella who originally started the post with a question and when people replied, he fired back as if he already knew his own answer and wanted to show that his points were far more educated than the rest! That crap is what can kill a great message board.
Your posts, as usual, showed tremendous knowledge and respect to others!

I read this post and I agree fully that the poster you are identifying was less than tactful in his replies.
However, I think that the claim that the Jerry Campbell board is catty or has cliques is not entirely accurate. Granted, I think there are some strong personalities, but I wandered on there as a young coach eager to learn and share and I never had a bad experience posting on that board. Everyone on there was always extremely helpful and cooperative. I talked to several coaches on the telephone who were willing to help.
I am here now because it seems like the volume of good topics and conversation has migrated here, along with a lot of the people I enjoy learing from and interacting with.
I don't think the JCFB board got "bad," I just think that this board is better right now!
Man, I've been on some really BAD boards. There used to be a board on ETEAMZ that was absolute vomit.
Everyone was a system peddler or a "I'll always win as long as I get the chalk last" kind of guy. It was a mix of youth coaches and experienced HS coaches, and some of the HS coaches really took advantage of the youth coaches in so many ways. Then, you had a lot of "little man syndrome" coming from the youth coaches whos egos were bruised by the HS coaches...and so on and so forth.
Not a lot of that going on out here. This board is well moderated.

jcfb has been nothing but a blessing to me, and with help from Easton and Mountjoy, I have grown a lot in coaching.....
However, finding the other sites (I remember the eteamz one) only lets appreciate what Huey has nutured here.

That Coach707 guy is a complete tool...
It is completely obvious that he had an agenda and an axe to grind when he made that first post.

Coaches, JCFB was the first football coaching message board I ran into and it has done great things for me! Coach Campbell, Bill Mountijoy, Jerry Easton and many others have been a great help to me! The guys over there have always been more than willing to send me files, talk to me on the phone, speak with me at clinics and do just about anything within their power to help me become a better person and a better coach. I will continue to remain loyal to the place that helped me get my start even if there is only a few coaches over there. I love this site as well and wish that more coaches would do their best to visit both sites and post their thoughts whenever possible. I do not believe there is any truth to a clique existing on JCFB. Again everyone over there has always been more than willing to help me!

As I mentioned in my post on this topic -- Do not let the actions of a few speak for the whole. I have nothing but great things to say about Coach Campbell. I know him personally and a person will be hard pressed to find a better man than him. Just like coachnicholson stated, it was one of the "first" real X's & O's types of sites. I've been reading & posting there for many years. Much information can be gathered there. Yes, just like any site, there are threads or users that may somehow rub someone wrong or come off as abrasive. Most times, though, this is unintentional as it is extrememly hard to fully explain yourself via the written word on a message forum. Things can easily be taken out of context. There are many sites available for us to use as a coaching resource. We, here, are merely trying to be such as resource -- and the best possible resource we can be. I am thankful for all the knowledgeable and helpful coaches we have as members. At the same time, I would hope that this thread does not turn in to a "bash" session about any other board.

ditto on what Huey said.
except, I can't log in over there anymore. Anyone care to PM coach campbell and ask him if he can can get me logged in? I read on there occasionally now, but I find my time there has gone down simply because I can't interact and ask questions. Bill and the Jerrys are great resources for any coach out there.

I guess I took the wrong approach to addressing my feelings about this site, compared to new feelings about Jerry's site. I did not stress as much the great influence that Jerry's site provides; I apologize to people like Jerry, TigerOne, Bill Mountjoy, Lou Cella, nicholson and the many out there who keep that site running great. It is just that small stuff can get big and out of hand and I am just stating that I thoroughly enjoy being on this board.
I could have used other words to express what I feel and this goes to show (what Huey said) that words do not always present what they mean. Sorry about that, and in no way was it a bash. tog- Best thing to is prolly delete this thread and forget about it!

swarm2ball, Dont worry about it. I realize that sometimes things might get under a persons skin and that is fine. Both sites are great and I am excited about the growth of both sites!
