It was a good game but turnovers in the red zone killed Katy.
Southlake Caroll becomes back to back 5A Div. II Champions, their record in 5A extends to 63-1, they have been to the state championship 4 years straight in their 4 years in 5A and has won 3 out of 4 championships.
Congrats to Todd Dodge. His son, Riley Dodge, will be the next starting QB for 2 years and the RB for the Dragons, Tre' Newton (Nate Newton's son, former lineman for the Dallas Cowboys) had 15 carries for 165 yards rushing.
Last but not least, Greg McElroy the QB had 21/31 completions, 332 yards passing and 4 TD's in the victory. He has broken the QB record in 5A and SLC for TD's thrown.... Ironic thing was that the 1st-3rd leaders of those records were all from SLC.

Just under 30,000 in attendance. As good as SLC is on offense, they are just as good on defense. Dodge has a great thing going there. I personally hope he does not leave. I hope he stays there to become a legend at one school like a Godon Wood. Yes greener pastures will come calling(college), but I hope he stays and wins as many state championships as he can there. Oh yeah, I don't have anything to do with SLC and don't really care to ever run the spread, although there are a lot of things I like about it. I just think that there needs to be someone to replace the Gordon Woods and GA Moore's here in Texas.

Coach Todd Dodge will be at SLC for at least 2 more years due to his son, Riley. Riley is a WR and played QB every 3 series for the Dragons.
According to the broadcasters, Riley figured out his dad's offense by the sixth grade and, he'll be a junior next season.
