Coaches,
I was wandering what your pregame routines are like?
When asking this question I am refering to the actual warmup prior to the start of the game?
From kicking groups, to indys to things scuh as routes?
Thanks

Its difficult to get an answer to this question. I wanted to come up with a new routine and have not gotten any ideas.

My coach back home has a great warm up/ stretching routine. Special teams come out 15 min earlier than the rest of the team and do their kick offs punts long snaps all those things. Then when the whole team comes out they do what we called Squaring it up. Where you get your guys in a square, about 2 deep per line (adjust for how many guys you have) and the interior of the square is about 12 yards by 12 yards with a coach in the middle. It was usually the defensive coor, and while they stretched he went over assignments and tendancys. When you did movement exercises like high knees and lunges you would have 2 of the sides that were facing each other go first, and they are staggered so that they didn't run into each other, and then the other 2 sides went when they completed. I'll try to get it from him for you guys if anyone is intersted. It was a great way to make stretching informative and got the guys focused on what was about to happen.

This is our Pre-Game Routine
Qb's - Centers Warm-up / Regular and Shotgun snaps - Qb's throw to receivers. Usually this is about 12 players (4 Qb's / 4 Centers/ 4 Receivers) We do not go to the gamefield for this - usually just outside our locker room. Specialties go out and Warm-Up (List posted by coaching staff)
Team Warm-Up - Dynamic Stretching followed by a few selected static stretches, Team Chant
Gold Period - Qb's/Receivers warm up passing and catching Linemen - review blocking schemes Backs - Ball Handling Drills
Defensive Individual Period - Line, Linebackers, Secondary
Defensive Team Period vs Scout Team - Being careful not to show adjustments vs opponent formations Most teams have a coach watching so we don't want to show any of our adjustments
Offensive Team Period vs Air - 2 Huddles (usually varsity and subs and JV) Huddle on Opposite hashes facing goal line and run plays (both run and pass) Usually we throw in a weird formation or double reverse just for the opposing coach watching - makes them paranoid.
1 Punt - Punt team lines up and snap and cover the punt
1 Extra Point - Extra Point team lines up and kicks one extra point (hopefully it's good)
Victory Snap and go to Locker room
