1. Jocks or no? We don't require and don't check. 2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana? We have a pregame meal at 3:30. Kickoff for us is 7:00. 3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon (of course if numbers allow it) We want to two platoon, but our numbers don't allow it. Our 22 starting spots are filled by only 16 different kids. 4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? The players are responsible for their own areas and we check once they've all left. We've never had problems with keeping it clean. 5. Let your kids go home after school prior to games, or keep them there? Unity kids must stay; Payson kids get on the bus and come up right after school--we're a co-op program. 6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? Always on Saturday, Sunday as needed. Our DC and OC are roomates, so they normally handle anything they need to on Sunday amongst themselves. 7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? We too are random, but I try to see where our D is weak and attack over and over again with the cards. 8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? We paint it. 9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? Everything for varsity; as needed for JV 10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? Watch, but not grade our own. Complete breakdown of opponent. 11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? This is probably our biggest problem--due to being a co-op and no weight lifting PE class, we don't have time to lift during season. 12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? We tell the players they need to be there, but we don't have any policy to hold them accountable. Can't make them "madatory" due to IL rules. 13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? All members of the program are expected to be there, but HC is more forgiving if something comes up over the summer. 14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? I have never seen shorts as unprofessional and our HC gives us the freedom to where shorts. 15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? We have to practice fresh with varsity, but that's due to our lack of upper classmen. We had to have several freshmen either start or give us second team reps this year We WANT to practice them separately. 16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? We will start lifting in December. I know many disagree, but I feel you have to give the players some time off. 17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? At our own facilities. 18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? Very actively recruit. We too had several join us during the season this year. 19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? Cuts. 20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? We try not to kick anyone off unless school policy forces our hand.

1. We don't require jocks and would have no volunteers to run a jock check. 2. We have a Chick-Fil-A sandwich. 3. We play the best both ways but try to identify which side of the ball we can give them breaks. 4. We have the kids clean the locker room. 5. We go home after school. 6. We meet Sunday at 5 PM. Coordinators will have tentative game plans ready. 7. We script and believe that that's very important. 8. We play at a city stadium that we share with 3 other schools so that's not an issue. We do paint our practice field. 9. See #8. 10. We watch but do not grade our own film. Coordinators completely break down opponents on their own. 11. In-season we lift on Monday and Thursday. That's right, we lift the day before the game and have had no problems with it. 12. Mandatory summer workouts are illegal in our state. 13. Under normal circumstances all coaches are expected to be at practice in-season. Off-season workouts are different. 14. Each coach decides what to wear as long as it's school gear. When it's hot that will normally be shorts. 15. Except for a few "part-timers" the JVs practice separately. 16. We don't have athletic period. We normally don't bring in kids on Saturday or Sunday after a Friday game. We start lifting after Christmas break. The kids need a break. So do the coaches. 17. No camp. 18. We recruit the halls, PE classes, and other sports hard. 19. No cuts. 20. We have no hard and fast rules about kicking kids off the team. We will get rid of kids we think are a$$holes who are hurting the program.

1. Jocks or no? We don't require and don't check.
2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana? We do our pre-game meal on Thursday nights and advice our kids and parents on what they should be eating on game day.
3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon (of course if numbers allow it) We want to two platoon, but our numbers don't allow it. We try to do our best to platoon the OL and DL but as the season goes on the less healthy bodies we have to do this.
4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? The seniors are responsible to make sure that the lockerroom is clean when they leave. They make sure each player is responsible for his area.
5. Let your kids go home after school prior to games, or keep them there? Let them go home. They usually go to one or two homes and hang out, play playstion etc...
6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? Always on Saturday, Sunday as needed.
7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? We are totally script O and D vs Scout O and D.
8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? Custodians paint field.
9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? Everything for varsity and JV is as is.
10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? Watch film, each position coach is responsible to watch and communicate with his players, and get ready for next weeks game.
11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? Varsity lifts M-W-S JV lifts T-TH-S 9th lifts M-F
12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? We cannot make it mandatory in Minnesota, we give them a goal to complete 90% of summer workouts and give out t-shirts for the ones who do. We also try and give out the better equipment to the athletes who make the 90%.
13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? Summer, we work around everyones schedules, but the fall all are required.
14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? We will wear khaki shorts if its hot, but other wise we are khaki pants or black sweat pants if its raining or very cold out.
15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? We do our fundamental periods 9-12, but when we get to group work, and team time its usually 9-10 and 11-12 with the sophs who play varsity up with the 11-12 groups.
I am in our lunchroom all spring, I'm in our JH PE classes talking to kids, I'm sending notes to kids in our 6-9 kids 3-4 times a year.
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? If they stay we will find a place for them to play, it may be on a monday during a JV game but they will play.
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? Punishement.

Just doing some research as to how other teams run their program. Please answer how you do things..

1. No jock 2. Pre-game meal 3. Strictly two platoon - but injuries have forced a change 4. Coaches clean and players help. Coaches are rotated weekly - take brooms on the road and clean opposing schools locker room after a game as well. 5. Let our kids go home 6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend - Sunday 7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? A little of both 8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? Lucky to have turf. No PAINT necessary 9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? See #8 10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? We grade everything.. same here
11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? Lift M-W-and Friday. We lift HARD game day. 12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? Not "mandatory", but you don't miss if you plan on contributing. 13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? - Depends on off campus coaches work schedules. On campus dudes - the HC and me are there the whole time 14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? Our HC's motto - "I don't care what you look like, I care how you coach" - nuff said there. 15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? N/A - we're big 16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? ZERO TIME OFF 17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? 2 camps each summer 18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? Actively recruit 19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? NO cuts at any level 20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? Depends on what has happened. Usually try to make things work with admin's backing and then see...

GREAT QUESTIONS
1. Jocks or no? what? who is going to check? Don't make rules you don't plan on enforcing. This one is irrelevant IMO.
2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana? Pre-Game meal for the entire team supplied at a discounted rate by local deli. $2 for a 6" sandwich, chips/apple, and a drink 3 hours before kickoff
3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon (of course if numbers allow it) two-platoon with maybe 2 or 3 going both ways
4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? locker room is disinfected by the district, but it is policed daily by the players (its called responsibility)
5. Let your kids go home after school prior to games, or keep them there? on game day, players report to facilites for the pre-game meal. No exceptions
6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? Coordinators meet for 2-3 hours on one day on the weekend
7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? every TEAM session scripted for both scout and live sessions.
8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? district paints the practice field
9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? field is painted for 5 yd increments with hash & number ticks
10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? both
11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? lifting sessions twice a week during the season
12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? summer workouts are not mandatory because technically it would be a violation of state rules. Frosh - Sr are grouped into teams and are responsible for self-policing attendance. Top attendance percentage team gets a party.
13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? huh? that is a good one.
14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? shorts are no problem
15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? sophomores practice by themselves. JV is comprised of non-starting Varsity, sophomore, and freshmen.
16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? give them 3 weeks after the season to jump into the off-season
17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? no 2-a-days.....'camp' at school consisting of an afternoon 4 hour practice (with a 30 minute rest & hydration period in the middle)
18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? recruit, recruit, recruit.
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? 3 unexcused absences/tardies or being voted off by player leadership council gets you off the team, otherwise, you are a team player
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? kids are never booted off - Player leadership council dismisses players

I was rather vague on the time off deal.. I meant during summer workouts.. old school we used to have one coach who came up and opened the weightroom and supervised every period for that week.. then the next week another coach did it.. usually gave each coach 3 weeks to themselves..
As far as the jock rule.. every week on different days the HC stands at the door on the way out and they have to hook a thumb on the side strap and show that they have it on while on the way out..
really eliminates the sagging when in shorts..

As far as the jock rule.. every week on different days the HC stands at the door on the way out and they have to hook a thumb on the side strap and show that they have it on while on the way out.. really eliminates the sagging when in shorts.. wow...........that is completely ridiculous

I dont really know how I feel about it.. I dont mind it.. other than seeing all the naked butts walking around.. which I could do without.. But.. the HC had a situation one time with a player whose testicles became twisted and had to have surgery.. so he swears by the jock.. I kind of like the old school mentality of it.. but who knows..

1. We wear girdles to hold in our pads-dont need them 2. Pregame meal-Roasted chicken or beef, green beans, mac and cheese, rice and a roll 3. Try to two platoon have a few key kids that see action on both sides 4. Kids clean up Mon-Thur, coaches on Fri nights. 5. They stay 6. Saturday coaches pick up tapes and watch them on their own, Sunday we meet as a staff to develop our plan based on what we saw. 7. Random, but with an idea of what we need to work on 8. Staff 9. Paint it all on Friday's, as needed for JV 10. I always grade the OL, others move on to the next opponent 11. Lift Mon-Thur 12. Kids who make a certain number of days get a t-shirt, a steak dinner, and their names on their jersey, but you cant make them be their 13. Our coaches are pretty good about being there. But there is no requirement 14. We usually wear pants 15. Seperate 16. Usually a week, sometimes two before we start lifting 17. 2-a-days at school 18. Recruit within our school heavily-our leading WR this year wasnt on the team last year until our RB coach saw him dunk flat footed in PE 19. No cuts 20. Depends on infraction but usually they just get punished.

A little off topic, but those of you who have a pregame meal, what does it include? We do some baked chicken, pasta (plain), baked potatoes, rolls w/honey or butter or we'll change form chicken to sandwiches with all the other stuff in there too. All of that stuff is light, but don't know much about nutrition and was wondering what other people did.

4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? freshmen

6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? late Sunday if needed.....OC(HC) & DC work on their own and talk with each other if needed

11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? players wont show and we don't have enough to "set examples"
12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? can't in our state but encourage
13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? rotate
14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? no shorts
15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? small school 9-12 gets our numbers to 30 on a "good" day
16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? no athletic period-wait until December
17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? at our school
18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? small school so we have the all the kids in class and we recruit
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? not cuts
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? punishment

The jock rule, I don't know doens't make much sense to me. I've never worn one, and never will. I wear compression shorts for football, but never a jock. I"m not knocking you, I just don't really see how it fits in the overall picture of it.

I"m not knocking you, I just don't really see how it fits in the overall picture of it. There are two types of men......those that had to wear jocks in PhyEd and those that didn't ;D if you're one of the guys who didn't (possibly because you are a bit younger) jocks don't make much sense AND you have not had the pleasure of watching your buddy put his on backwards the first time, OR have to stand beside your mother as she asks the clerk for an athletic supporter......... I honestly don't know the science behind whether or not it is better to wear one and keep em tight or let em hang and IMO, compression shorts don't hold em as tight I can't believe I just posted this.......

1. Jocks or no? LOL, have not seen one in years and frankly with the under armour garments why are they needed?
2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana? parent group takes care of it for all levels
3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon (of course if numbers allow it) best players period
4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? janatorial staff
5. Let your kids go home after school prior to games, or keep them there? frosh JV stay varsity can leave
6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? Saturdays always Sunday as needed
7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? generally don't but we should and will next year
8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? grounds crew handles this- cannot believe coaches have to do this
9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? paint it all every game all levels- practice field as well
10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? we do not this year but will next- 1st year HC mistake
11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? Stopped 3 weeks ago use the time to get extra special team work and rep passing game
12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? have a point system- if your short no dress for any games until they get made up
13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? No, most are there everyday but coaches need summer breaks/vacations maybe more then most other folks
14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? never at varsity level- I don't nit pick the under programs about it as long as it's neat.
15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? did not this year may work JV/varsity together next year for fundy and Indy work
16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? Yes- 1-2 weeks depending on when we get eliminated from playoffs.
17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? Camp 5 days before official start date
18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? I don't recruit anyone- I tell the players you know what we do and what we demand if you have friends who can do that you recruit them.
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? Cut no one at any level
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? They eliminate themselves- I've yet to remove a kid in 23 years of coaching.

1. Jocks or no? We require jock straps during the game, but were pretty lenient when it comes to practice.
2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana? We dont eat together as a team so I cant answer that, but I encourage all my guys to eat something light and not to overload.
3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon (of course if numbers allow it) We have a few guys starting both ways(3 of the 4 are excellent linemen so we try to keep them fresh by rotating the DL)
4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? I believe we have a janitor to clean our facilities.
5. Let your kids go home after school prior to games, or keep them there? They stay here, since theres a lot to go through before the game itself.
6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? We meet on Saturday, depending on our game its either film study and a light workout or a full pads practice.
7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? Haha the new school I coach at has a different scheme every week so everything we do is scripted by the OC
8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? We have people that paint it, dont know who though...
9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? It looks like our field is painted and marked by a guy with OCD or something.
10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? We watch every piece of film we can get, even from practices.
11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? Depending on how we played Saturday or Monday is our 'body maintaince day'
12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? I've only worked here for one season, but I know that we have a very mandatory summer program.
13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? We dont require everyone be there, but it certainly helps
14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? Basketball shorts? Seriously though, if its above 90 we wear shorts in practice, but gametime is always pant-time.
15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? At my old school there was no freshmen team and JV was more of a place for underclassmen to become better, but here there is a freshmen team to develop players and JV always practices with Varsity since JV is mostly second-string varsity players anyway.
16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? Not sure on this, but I think we start the winter workouts right after the thanksgiving break.
17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? Two-a-Days are held at our school.
18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? I dont force kids to join or ask them to tryout, but Im always willing to give out info on the team.
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? We are a public school so dont cut anyone based on their talent, but they know whats in store for them.
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? It really does depend on the offense, the only thing that we dont tolerate is smoking/drug use since a group of football players were caught smoking marijuana and it caused a huge firestorm in the community.

[glow=red,2,3007]7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? [/glow] Wow -- hard to believe so many are losing the opportunity to do situational instruction during scout team sessions. I always script by situation, and always point out what the tendencies are in each situation to reinforce classroom teaching...

1. Jocks or no? No, but kids all wear compression shorts.
2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana? On the road we do.
3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon (of course if numbers allow it) Play the best 11 regardless. If we can go two platoon, we do, but play the best 11.
4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? Custodians don't want our kids messing around in there. Throw tape away is all they ask.
5. Let your kids go home after school prior to games, or keep them there? Let em go.
6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? Sunday meetings.
7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? I script everything from Inside Run to Skelly to Team. Nothing for us is random
8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? District Activities office
9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? Practice field has everything, game field is sprintturf
10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? Grade it all
11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? Lift Monday thur Wednesday
12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? They aren't mandatory, but you may get a phone call or two until you decide to do it voluntarily
13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? One of our coaches is paid to be there, the rest check in one day or another
14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? No, our players wear pants. . .sorry, couldn't help it. No stipulation on what we wear
15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? We are bigger school, so our levels are divided out.
16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? We basically give them December.
17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? We do 2 team camps.
18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? We haven't had a lot of success from kids we've gone after, but probably 1 kid every 5 does something for us.
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? Anyone can play, but we have 80 juniors and seniors so playing time is at a premium.
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? Don't think we've ever kicked a kid off, but the motivation to be there disappears when rules have been broken so most decide to leave.

1. Jocks or no? Player preference
2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana?Pregame meal(baked chicken or spaghetti)
3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon (of course if numbers allow it)Two Platoon, but we have one or two that go both ways

6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both?Meet on Sunday
7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card?Randon Play Cards
8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters?Staff did it last year, now the maintenance department for the county does it
9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks?Completely

13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off?We want every coach to be there every day, but with clinics and camp, that doesnt happen. 14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? We wear shorts for our preseason scrimmage, but khakis the rest of the way

16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? No rest, but I feel if your team is working like it is supposed to during the spring, summer and fall, you HAVE to give them a little rest after the season is over. Remember, working out is good, but if it isnt productive, your spinning your tires.
17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? Two a days at the school
18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out?We recruit in the school, but the ones who want to be there end up sticking
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team?No cuts
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? Punish

1. Jocks or no? No rule on this.
2. Pre-game meal, or just snack such as apple and a banana? Pre-game meal provided by parents. (pretty good usually)
3. Play best players on both sides, or strictly two platoon Best Players this year, last year we pretty much two platooned.
4. Who cleans the locker room daily? Coaches, or does each class rotate days? Players and custodians (this is the first year that custodians actually come out to the field house to clean up.)
5. Let your kids go home after school prior to games, or keep them there? Kids stay
6. Meet just 1 day on the weekend or both? Mandatory on Sundays, but most of the staff will show up on sat to talk a little too.
7. Script your scout team O and D, or just let a coach hold up a random play card? Everything is scripted, how do you know what to look for in each play if all of your coaches don't know what is being run?
8. Staff paints the field, or parents/boosters? Boosters
9. ALWAYS paint the field completely, or sometimes leave off the numbers or ticks? Boosters paint it completely
10. Grade your own film or just worry about what is in the future such as the next week’s opponent? We grade everything
11. Lift weights M-W all the way through the season, or let off during district/league play or the playoffs? We lift weights M-F all year long. There is only so much we can do about speed, but there is a lot we can do about strength!
12. Make summer workouts completely mandatory, or just require them to complete a certain amount of time/days? The state won't allow us to make them "mandatory" but our players have to make a certain number.
13. Do you make EVERY coach be there EVERY day, or do you rotate days so that your staff can enjoy some time off? Most coaches are there everyday, but we get to take vacations as long as all of us don't try to go at the same time.
14. Weather permitting, do you wear shorts during the hotter games, or do you feel that shorts no matter what the temp is unprofessional? Pants
15. Smaller schools, do you practice the freshmen with the varsity and larger schools do you practice the sophomore/JV team with the varsity? Our JV is the scout team for the varsity. Freshman are keep separate.
16. Do you give your players any time off after the season (such as a week to just relax during athletic period), or do you jump head first the next Monday? Again, we lift 5 days a week all year long. We have to continue to get stronger.
17. Do you go to camp, or just hold two-a-days at your school? two-a-days at school
18. Do you actively recruit within your school, or do you take the stance that if they don’t want to already be out there, then you don’t want them out? Always looking for more players, but not after the season has started.
19. Do you have cuts, or does anyone who wants to play make the team? No cuts
20. Do you kick kids off the team for rules violations, or make punishment fit the crime and the only way they leave is if they quit? punishment fits the crime

1. don't check 2. no 3. Love to able to platoon - but not applicable 4. Janitor! 5. Go home -- a co-op - half the team isnt there afterschool anyway 6. 1 day - as head coach I pretty much spend all weekend 7. script usually 8. Staff 9. Always 10. we don't give grades but do evaluate all of our players 11. Most of the team lifts M-W-F in weightlifting class -- those that don't we try to get in time twice during the game week 12. state says no mandatory -- we try to get them there a certain number and reward those that do. 13. rotate 14. I wear pants all the time -- some of the assistants wear shorts 15. small team - everyone practices together 16. yes they get some time off(unless they are already in a weightlifting class) 17. 2 a days at school -- program is not yet ready to go to team camps 18. Actively recruit the hallways at both co-op schools 19. No cuts 20. Kickoffs eventually but pretty much the kids quit on their own when they see their playing time affected for their rules violations.
