How many little things do your staff let go by that allow the kids to screw up? Meaning, are there things that you could do to make stupid little things easier for them so the coaches don't get all riled up and yell at everyone over something that might not be that big of a deal?

less rules - less enforcement headaches.
Don't make rules you and your staff aren't willing to enforce.

yelling over little thing only reduces the value and effect of yelling...they tune you out. the key is this, teach and teach and teach and teach...rep and rep and rep...save the yelling for celebrating in a loud locker room...thats my take.
now, as far as discipline goes...what you tolerate, you encourage...take care of the lil things and the big things dont happen.

i guess I am just not getting this one. I do not yell to start with so I am a little lost here.
when you mean little things like being late for practice or what?
to me the greatest lesson to be taught to a young man is that is he accountable for himself, his actions and to his teammates. for example, if you are late, it costs you teammates 25 updowns paided that moment.
if you hold them accountable at the start of the season, they are better at the end of the season.
