I have never seen anything like this and wondering if anyone else has.
Semifinal weekend of play. SNOW in several places. That is crazy enough, but then the scores. This is the Best of the Best... :
5a- West Monroe 52 Baton Rouge Catholic 6
Archbishop Rummel 7--Scored on INT return late in game. Westgate 6 ...Fumbled 2pt conversion attempt early in game.
4a---thought for most of the season to be the strongest class in the state by many Franklinton 60 Salmen 0 his was a rematch of a game that went into overtime for the district championship just 5 weeks ago. Franklinton won that one 21-20 in OT.
Neville 42 Lutcher 0- Lutcher was thought to be the best team in the state.
3A-- Notre Dame 43 Catholic New Iberia 0
Parkview Baptist 42 E.D White Catholic School 0
2A- John Curtis Christian 27 St Charles Catholic 0
Evangel 21 Capitol School for Boys 20 OT
1A St. John Plaquemine 0 Haynesville 26
South Plaquemine 20 Oak Grove 13
7 blowouts (6 shut outs, and one mercy score..so really 7 shut outs) out of 10 semifinal games.
Never seen anything like that.

Just watched the Mississippi 6A game. South Panola 56 Oak Grove 14, in a snowstorm, inch of snow on the ground players sliding everywherre. South Panola just flat out thumped them.

Weather was a factor here as well, but I just can't get over the fact that 70% of the games were one sided shut outs with another 2 being 1pt nailbiters. I am quite familiar with the teams involved in these games, so this wasn't a case of teams being outclassed from the get go. The Lutcher team was considered the best in the state, with the best player in the state at QB. Like I said, the salmen/franklinton game was a rematch of an overtime game 5 weeks ago.

They said Neville did not attempt a pass.. Lutcher likes to chunk it around a little.. their OC used to be on this board.. havent seen him in a while though.. The Franklinton/Salmen game really suprised me though.. Capital gave that game away... they were better last night than Evangel in everything place other than the score board.. Capital throws up a pass.. two Evangel defenders miss the tackle and fall.. he is on his way to a walk in TD.. and just drops the ball on the ground.. and an ECA kid scoops it up.. Someone said Capital ran 94 plays to ECA's 48.

John Curtis and Evangel in the 2A finals should be fun. Where are they playing? Is it going to be televised?
Oklahoma's 6A championship was last night. Jenks vs. Union, AGAIN. There's never been a domination like there was last night though. If you saw it, I'll just tell you Jenks hasn't taken a whoopin like that in a LONG time. 52-13 was the final, I think.
Our 5A and 4A championship games are on today, 1:30 and 7:30 on FSN Ok.
5A Carl Albert vs. Bixby CA big favorite.
4A Douglass vs. Star Spencer Might be 4 passes combined in this one.

I guess then you have to chalk up the lopsided games to preparation and focus? Maybe one of the teams thought they had it in the bag and their preparation may have suffered.

Well, lopsided games happen every year in the late stages of the playoffs. That isn't really that surprising. But to have 7 out of 10 semifinal games blowout/shutout losses (I am counting the WM as a shut out) is just wild.
