Guys,
I've been contacted by several recruiting services that say their database is accessed by colleges for recruiting purposes. What I'm wondering is which ones are legitimate and actually worth using. I can't see wasting my time on ones that no one uses, or giving out kids personal information to people who are just going to try and sell them something. Please list those you know are legitimate and worth using. Thanks.

Collegiate Sports Data is a must for high school coaches in my opinion. I'm a college coach who buys it, and over 75% of high school coaches nationwide respond to that one. It's the best in the business in my book.
The Forbes Report is good, but their "scouts" accumulate much of the info. However, they still need the help of high school coaches to fill out the info.

Coach if you have kids that want to get to the next level I feel your best bet is to do the ground work yourself, make contacts to colleges that the kid has interest in and schools you feel he could compete at academically and athletically. Most college coaches would be glad to hear from coaches about potential prospects.
Sit down with the kid and his parents and see what there goals are for him, make a list of potential schools of interest and then make some suggestions from you point of view about schools they might want to consider or not consider based on his talents in the class room and on the field, then contact all these coaches via email or phone, then send out all material they request. In my opinion thats the best and most effective way to help your kids get to the next level this also creates relationships with coaches on the college level.
You dont need a recruiting service...... Your the best and cheapest recruiting service......

Please keep in mind that the "recruiting services" that I was suggesting and that I thought coach was asking about are information gathering services that have ZERO cost for high school coaches or players.
These are completely different than the recruiting services that try to market individual players at a cost to that player and his family.

I have given info to CSD and they seem legit. I've been getting other calls and wondering if they are worth my time.

I've been coaching a while...and after hearing from BS recruiting services and struggling to do the work myself....I came up with the idea for www.streetlight-productions.comPut the film on our website and we send it to thousand's of college coaches across the country. But we only send a kid to schools that fit his athletic and academic interest. We can send full game films...upon requests (from password protected coaches only area) and WE CAN TRACK THE TOTAL NUMBER OF COLLEGE COACHES WHO VIEW THE FILM. This last fact is the reason I know it works, every kid we've helped has gotten offered....and we just reviewed the numbers last night, we had a Class of 2010 WR that had 1,654 College coaches view his film in 7 days. All I'm saying is what I started doing works...and because I've coached...and have seen some of the outlandish prices... Our prices are like the Dollar Tree compared with everyone else's crap. Here's the link to our "about us" section...just give it a look. www.streetlight-productions.com/aboutus.html
