Several of my players have received invitations to this camp at Mars Hill College in N.C. Does anyone know anything about it? The letter has convinced my kids that it will lead directly to a college scholarship. Any advice would be welcome.

I have not heard ot this camp, but I firmly believe that these type of camps usually make alot of promises with few results. To me it is a money making scheme.

Yes,
One of my players got one last week as well... They want a deposit by April (175.00) and total payment is around $400.00 by July...
This kid is 6'1" 195lbs TE/DE type... I love the kid to death but as a junior for us last year he didn't even get honorable mention all district... I did not recommend it. I told the kids give me a list of 20 coaches that say they are going to be there and we will send out tape to them... We already sent out around 10 tapes so far..
Yes big money maker.

The info found file 13 quickly. $375 is way too much money to be spending on something like that. I do a pretty good job of promoting my kids without ripping off their parents in a struggling economy.

several of our linemen received the letter and are talking about going. i hadn't heard of it until they showed me the letter. i think they may be better off going to a camp closer to home that's more affordable.

![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Nobody can guarantee scholarships.. Grades….Grades…Grades and the level of athletic ability a kid has … has more to do with his scholarship opportunites. The first word Blue Chip says it all. What exactly is a Blue Chip? The expensive camps are doing all they can to get kids to camps because of the economic situation. I have only seen 1 or 2 camps that were worth $400.00 to attend. One being Furman camps and the other Georgia Southern camps. To be honest kids are better off going to a number of less expensive one day camps that are specific to their positions.
