I coach at a small school. I am the DC, but I also have individually the db's and the rb's on offense.
What do you do for pre-game?? I have about 5-7 minutes for db & rb individual before we get into team. What are some good drills to get the kids feet under them, maybe have some contact, overall get them loose and ready to play??
This isn't really a defensive or offensive question so I posted it here.
Any help is appreciated.

Our QBs ran run game footwork and hondoffs with the RBs. DBs work some footwork and simple 1 on 1's (slant, out, fade)

We included some ball protection drills with the RB's. One runs through the others, while they slap at the ball. We also had ball hand exchange drills. Run an a 45 degree angle, cut and switch on the whistle. Hand down (on the ground) to keep from going down, switching the ball as they switch hands.
If you're looking for more contact, you might want to have them practice one-on-one blocking. If you have backs who rarely block, you could instead have a defender lock up on them like a linebacker tackling drill (staying on their feet of course).

Coach,
We have a little bit longer because it's college but we run our regular indy warmups ex. DL- Take offs LB- Run Fits/Reads DB- Footwork/Coverage Schemes and breaking on the ball
But we also do a really short turnover circuit. This is done in everyones group alone and theres no rotating like a normal circuit. Basic strip/punch technique and tip drill is used. This gets the kids thinking about the ball. When were on defense we want that ball!Hope this helps
