I took this head coaching job so I could streamline my family into one community, one school district, and be near each other more. I think the commute is almost impossible when a head coach has a family with school-age children. It's just not fair to them - way too many hours and a natural disconnect from the job, school, players, and other coaches.
I think football needs to be a family affair for our wives, kids, and assistant's family as well. This is really a struggle when the head coach does not live in the community where they work. I have actually seen it leave two marriages a mess with major stressors.

I did the commute thing for 9 years and I would never do it again. My suggestion is that if you have a family find work near where you live.

Too Far, don't do it. Keep it under 30 minutes. Why? Is an hour and fifteen (2 and a half a day) going to be do able for more than a year? No.
