5 TDS and still in 1st Quarter..
Goes to show how big plays can come if you can do well what you are not known for..
Imagine once GT gets the ability to pass a little.

I was surprised to see WVU only had 14 rushing TD's this year. As opposed to 49 last year. Thats a little over 1 a game. I realize they lost Schmitt and Slaton but wow that surprised me.

That is suprising.. also.. how long was White out with the concussion? Devine might can take Slaton's place.. but they are surely missing Schmitt.

I think White only missed one game.

I was wondering what everyone would rather see. A 50-52 game win by a field goal or a 9-12 game won by a field goal.

I don't mind seeing points as long as they are earned, not just big plays and zero defense. A good game is a good game I don't care what the points are as long as there is good O and good D.

a month back someone was talking about NFL QBs and if pat white could be one. I said I've never seen him win a game with his arm. To pat white, I stand corrected. Although I don't know if he's an NFL QB, someone will find a spot if White is willing to accept a role like Brad Smith has, and isn't stubborn like Eric Crouch was.

Man Bill Stewart seems like such a great guy. Great interview by White too, totally dodged personal questions and just simply said mountaineer for life...chills. I wish White the best at the next level...

A good game is a good game I don't care what the points are as long as there is good O and good D. yes, on carolina's first td there were only 2 defenders covering the guy but only 1 of them tipped the pass -- of course, making it such an easy catch and run for the receiver... the same one that later made another remarkable catch while being double covered. you know what i saw in the first quarter? i saw great timing of play calls. i saw offenses breaking their tendencies and because of it, had 1 guy maybe --- MAYBE -- a step ahead of the defender .. offense made the play and because of pure speed, that extra step carried him all the way to the end zone. i like how we assume that a 31-30 game was poor defense (oh, but not great offense) but a 10-7 game is great defense (oh, can't be poor offense)

Don't trust a box score. That kid from UNC can flat out catch the ball. He was covered most of the day, the kid just made plays. It wasn't like WVU didn't bother covering him. How about the 4th and one stop that UNC made, bad play call or good defense? The 1st and goal stand WVU made in the first half, Was that good defense? I think there was some good defense in this game, there were also some very talented athletes who just made plays.

Although I generally favor a playoff, the Bowl system does give us wonderful matchups of teams playing at their best. (vs some of the blow outs we have seen in the playoffs at the lower levels: a DII game went 93-68 or something like that). I also enjoy seeing what OCs come up with given a month to prepare!
I'm also not a WVU guy, but I imagine all those fans singing "Country Roads" at the end of a victory is an awesome experience!

Note: The comments on bad defense were posted in the first half. I thought it was a great game.

With so many great offenses out there why can't this be the reason there were so many points scored.

Does good offense throw into double coverage... triple team... and just pray stud boy makes a play? You know... hope the pass ricochets off the defenders chest into the WR's hands? Now, I'm not saying that's bad defense either... that's pretty good defense... sometimes the other team, does make a play. So I guess the conumdrum is... what is it called... when the defense is doing everything it is supposed to be doing... but the offense still scores? In addition, the offense is doing things, that aren't necessarily supposed to be done, but doing it with great success? How do you define that. I could see people disparaging the defense.... but that wasn't quite the real story... in position to make tackles... just couldn't make the tackle... good offense or bad defense? I guess its like everthing... it depends.

I thought the Poinsettia Bowl was a great example of TCU playing aggressive good defense and BSU doing what it could on offense to stay in the game. I liked that game.
