Seems to me all the TV announcers talk about is the Jimmies and Joes when handicapping Bowl games. My American coaching buddies,on the other hand, seem to talk about coach vs coach matchups.the more i think about it coaching does seem to be a huge factor in the Bowls.possibly because of the longer prep time?nice to know we are somewhat important sometimes. i've always looked at conferences and their relative strengths when handicapping games but i'm intrigued by the coaching mismatches.Anybody see any obvious ones??such as last years SUPER BOWL with NYG's DC mauling NE's OC.

The NYG DC, Spagnoulo rotated the D-Line beautifully and kept them fresh all game, while people forget that I think it was the Patriots left guard got hurt in the 1st quarter and never returned. I was happy about the outcome

This might be obvious, but... One reason that the coaching role to be highlighted during bowls and the NFL playoffs is due to the teams being evenly matched. During the regular season, the teams with the best players beat the teams who are not as fortunate. But in the bowls or in the playoffs, both teams have good players. So with more factors being equal, the X factor is the coaching.
