What the board needs is a "run block" section. I mean it would be nice to see what others have to say about their different types of run blocks. I mean most are basic but still it would be nice as well as it would help the younger coaches that would like to get a better understanding of run blocking.

that would be the run game section
ask away in there
as for specific drills/techniques
that is in the offensive drills section
ask away in there
we are not going to divide the forums into every possible category--it makes things too hard to find and keeps the learning/sharing/discussion buffered by the categories itself
we want it to have some sense of organization---but we also want it loose enough that people can talk about stuff in the realm of that specific forum

i will make this a sticky for a while to see if we can get some more ideas

i'd vote for a means of "connecting" people of the same scheme family, if that makes sense.
not saying we need a separate section for wing-t, spread, etc. , i think we can learn from everybody, which is what makes this forum great, but.........
maybe we could atleast have a spot to post or better yet, LIST/GROUP who runs the "spread" and their top 3 schemes, for instance. not a means of becoming a posting clique, but atleast the ability to PM, possibly meet in the whiteboard (tuesday night spread night, hosted by _____)
this might give us an easier way to connect with people of similar scheme, ideas, sort of like a "position group" if you will, a smaller group identity within what we have as a whole here, just an idea.

how about if people just put it in their siglines?
kinda like the introduce yourself thread-but all the time
either there or in avatar area
just type it in
the problem with this is a ton of people on here know more than just what they are running at the moment
so
tog---power i coach---doesn't really sum it up

i like the siglines idea or avatar area, good idea.
just a matter of getting the masses to unite, i understand what youre saying about the people knowing more than what they run right now, but atleast it gives us a base of what we're about scheme wise, if you can get away from everyone saying "multilple offense or defense" haha.....

if we do that
that was what i was gonna put
lol
our offense doesn't have some moniker
it just is what it is

What we really need are more members writing articles in the Articles Section of the board.
I have learned more from those articles than anything, because I have the ability to follow right back up with the guy who wrote it.
Throwing out some ideas:
-kw needs to have another OL article. Whatever he wants to talk about, he is just flat out the man.
-tog, an in-depth look at the pistol and the conflict you place on the defense with the veer/zone read attack. Talk about how those compliment one another.
-We need a really well done "4 verts" article
-We have mulitple smash, isn't it time for mulitple curl?
-hemlock, robinhood, and/or rip60zgo need to do some run and shoot articles
-brophy needs a coaching article on problem analysis and solution......the problem of how to work the problem.
-spreadattack does his blog......we probably need a sticky with a link to that or something
-knighter needs some DW insight.......maybe a 101 class
-fb doc could have an indepth article on the undercenter fly sweep, especially how to drill it to perfection
-ted seay could write anything and I'd read it.
-darin slack could highlight some of the typical "problem areas" that developing QB's run into.
-Uh, the defensive article section is a little sparse......(OJW)
-khalfie could write about the need for explosive plays in your offensive attack
-coachjaz and midlineqb could highlight some triple option excellence for us.
In short, we need more members putting up articles. That is a library that would far outweigh a grands worth of AFM articles and coaches choice dvds.

I agree with not splitting the board up into a bunch of different sections. Another board I go to has the ability to put in search keywords when you post something. It really helps the search function if we have the ability.

This board needs a place... Where the post Nazi's won't delete every post you made, simply because you disagree in a humorous manner... Coaches are the funniest people I know... maybe a section where coaches can have a little fun! I'm not sayin'... i'm just sayin'

Maybe a "general offensive topics" section, like the "general defensive topics" section? i agree, defensive game planning topics have a place...offensive ones end up going in general. I can't complain though I love this place. -CD

How about a formation of the week. Offensive coaches discuss plays and strengths of the formation, and defensive coaches discuss strategies for combating. See if any of Gurus would volunteer to start the thread with a basic introduction

I wish the search feature would allow you to search 43 or 44.. unless I am doing it wrong.. it has to be at least 3 characters to search.

This is really out there I think but I would like to see a podcast area. A place where I could download a video and/or stream it to my computer. I am a member of a couple of sights that do this but ones dedicated to the double wing and the other is mostly 2 or 3 minutes of drills. Both of these are very good but with all the resources we have here I think that having someone do a powerpoint discussing the ins and outs of their systems with commentary and video would be great. I participated in the Glazier Webinars last spring and gained a lot of information while sitting at my desk at home.

I have a general board on my site reelsportreplay.proboards51.com/index.cgi90% of the people on there are coaches. I have boosters, parents, etc. that come aboard. They know that I don't have all day to moderate stuff. Therefore my board is a pretty good place. I enjoy being able to post any kind of clip, link, etc. and not have to worry about it getting moved or banned by this board. I say that stating that I enjoy this board the way it is. It needs to be serious, where mine has a bit of an off track feel to it. Feel free to join. You'll see some similarities. Most of the coaches are from CA, but you'll get a national feel as well.

I wish there was a way to keep people from posting stuff like:
"Hey guyz, if anyone has any info on the spread offense, could you send it to me?"
They have 3 posts, and when you look up the other 2 posts in their history its:
"Hey guyz, if anyone has any info on the Nuclear Winter defense, could you send it to me?" "Yeah, send one to me too!" (as a response to someone else asking for a powerpoint on the Dart play)
I don't know why, but this drives me frigging bonkers.
I agree that a "General Offensive Topics" board would be cool...because most of that stuff ends up in the "General Board."

I really like that formation of the week as a section. It got me to thinking about something similar to that but a bit different. How about a section called "Match-up of the Week"
This would be a section where you would have the best match-ups of the week during the season of College or Pro's or maybe even sometimes early in the High school season High school Match-ups. The section would ask coaches from the sent to pick a side and see how they would attack the opposing team. (So lets say for example this week's match-up would be Oklahoma's Offense vs. Florida's Defense) coaches would pick a side and try to attack it. exploiting weakness, using the strength of the side they picked and etc.
I think this would be great for the board since it has some great minds on here... would be interesting to see how close of a game plan coaches on here come up with to the one that is actually run.
Just A Thought!!!

I think it would be great if more members would create cutups and post them for discussion. It seems many coaches have access to their game films via editing systems (Apex, DSV, CoachComm/Gameplan, Proscout, etc), but are reluctant to post them -- not sure why?
I think we all could get quite a bit more detailed information and understanding if we posted more video example during our discussions.

I say for a solution to that we all start typing front numbers like "4-3" instead of "43." 4-3 is three characters, 43 is not.
I also agree like the posting-more-videos idea. A lot of people learn by visuals (I personally learn by words, but all the coachspeak sometimes gets in my way).
I like the "Formation of the Week" idea if others are up to it.
I like the podcasts idea, but I realize that may be expensive, time-consuming, and hard to find the right people for the job (both knowledgeable and charismatic enough to be on-air. Though this is a board full of coaches so I'm sure there's plenty in that regard).
