I'm not looking to start an argument about all WR being sissies I'm just curious as to some of the Pro receivers are guys that you see as being real tuff, selfless players that play WR. I'm particularly curious because it was my offensive position when I played (this year was my only year playing) and our coach constantly brought up Hines Ward as a tough SOB and a true football player playing receiver. Just curious for some opinions, and I hope none of you take this as me trying to say all receivers are soft prima donnas and only a few are true football players. Since I might coach receivers soon I want to have a list of some guys I want my guys watching...
I agree with my coach on Hines, as a Giants fan I also like Domenik Hixon as a hard-nosed player.
Thoughts?

Spend your first three practices teaching wide outs to block. You will find out all you need to know about the kids that are trying out for that spot. You will weed out the cancers in a hurry as they whine and cry about blocking instead of catching passes. Those that are true football players will not only block, but they will bury people.

Hines Ward is a tough receiver, but he also has a reputation as being a dirty player. I'm not saying I agree either way, but it is out there.
I am not a Cardinals fan, but I think both Boldin and Fitzgerald are terrific football players. They are both tough, good blockers, and you don't see them worrying about TD celebrations.

I'm sure that it was no coincidence this year that the WR on my team that was the best, most physical blocker was also the kid who had by far the most yards per catch.

yeah i should have thought about Boldin. Takes one tough dude to get your sinus fractured and play 2 weeks later...

on the flip side though, if you looked at the top 25 d-bags in pro football, 20 of them would be receivers.

my old HS football coach referred to WR as "twinkies" because the stuffing comes out of them when you hit them hard enough.
