"Did you get that memo..."
When he took the job at Auburn, he had to remove himself from being directly connected to the system.

He is trying to buy back into the system - so maybe his name will be back on it pretty soon.

"The System" Coach Green, is nothing really to LMAO about. I mean it is now a multi million dollar bussiness. Teams that have the money to attend, and are truly selling out to the pass are having great success with it. Tony Franklin dint create any of the plays, he packaged it into a SYSTEM and people were willing to pay for it. Its obviously good a good enough system for Texas Tech to be undefeated right now. A local high school team here went 0-10 last year, switched to "The System" , and now this year are 10-0, the only team EVER in the state of alabama ever to do that. Was it actually the system or maybe a added boost of confidence for the kids and coaches? I dont know, but I do know that for many many coaches " The System" has changed their coaching lifes. I know it has mine.

I know it has mine. Hoover HS, (Alabama) went to "The System" and ripped off a run of 6 straight 6A State Championship Game appearences from 2000-2005, and lost only in 2001. They lost in the semi's in 2006, and in the 3rd round in 2007 to their arch rival. Franklin, as stated, didn't invent or perfect the Air Raid, but he did package it, the specific drills and coaching points in such a way that every coach I've ever known that bought in to it 100% was 100% satisfied.

The system isnt the same as "every team in the USA" that has a system. Not even close. Personal experience has taught me that the greater majority of coaches will never put that kind of time and effort into developing a package/system or whatever you want to call it. TF has obviously gotten enough people to drink the kool aid and obviously word of mouth helps him be successful with his enterprise. Now I am no fan of it, yet I see only one reason anyone would rip TF for his marketing of his system and that is JEALOUSY. IF you really believe your system is just like his, then by all means, market it and find out.

Can someone please explain to me why it is a "bad thing" that Tony Franklin makes money by doing something he loves? Isn't that what America is all about? Good for him if people are willing to pay him for the service he is providing!

I see a ton about Franklin and him selling football information to coaches. Many think it is a bad thing. My first though is I attend Glazier clinics for the past 15 years. I know we pay less to attend but we still pay for it. The number of coaches that attend these clinics would still be generating a great amount of income for the clinics. Nothing is ever mentioned about these types of clinics being a bad thing. Just some thoughts.

The System...LOL Everybody has their system..every team in the USA I would agree that Leach runs his version of the Air Raid differently than Franklin. BYU doesn't do it quite the same either from what little I've seen. It's still the same base offense, or at least the same base route concepts. As was stated, "The System" isn't just a playbook or offense, Franklin's "System" is a system of installing the offense and coaching the coaches to coach the system to players. Franklin didn't invent the offense that is part of "The System", he just packages it along with coaching materials.

Coach Green, A system would not be categorized that someone changed the name of their formations, changed what they called mesh. It does not matter that texas tech calls 4 verticals "6" and franklin calls it 97. The fact is texas tech, new mexico state, troy, and georgia southern are all running the Air Raid, and it is "The System", the core of everything they do is basically the same... Each of those coaches might change their entire run game, but the air raid isnt known for its run game anyway. The reads on mesh, shallow, hi lo, y sail, y cross, all curls, 4 verts, stick, y corner, slants, hitches..THEY ARE ALL THE SAME.. I will also say this, I know for a fact that most of the coaches that start out running the air raid and make it into their "OWN SYSTEM" like you say have failed miserably and have went back to their stuff they are familair with such as the I, the BONE, the wing T, etc.

Butchers, bakers, candlestick makers, and football coaches. I've never understood the sentiment that coaches (or doctors or lawyers) are duty-bound to help for free. I'm getting a new roof on my house. I don't expect the guy to put it on at cost. He has a roof, too.

That doesn't change "the system" though. The Air Raid concept remain the same, though over time Leach, Franklin, Mumme, Hatcher, et al, have added their own little twists to it. All of them though, do maintain the base Air Raid structure as a mainstay of their coaching and play calling. See Auburn Universty's version of "The System" for a shining example of the disaster awaiting a coach trying to tinker with it too much.

When I first got out of college and went in to sales I listened to motivational tapes and such. One thing that was always mentioned was that you should never forget that you're in the business of helping people get what they want and/or need, and that it's perfectly fair for you to be compensated for helping people. All Franklin does is help the coaches that want it to get what they want. And again from sales I was taught that when someone goes to Sears to buy a drill, it's not the drill they really want, it's a hole they really want. Read the coaches comments on this site that have bought in to "The System" and you'll see the overwhelming majority got what they wanted...potent, points producing offense!

Yea, Franklin was headed toward disaster before the Auburn job. I watched a ton of Troy games from last year, he was getting far away from the initial Air Raid package. I mentioned that months back and people laughed at me. Seemed like he had a million tags and was actualy running another offense
Leach runs a pure form to me,along with Mumme and Hatcher.

one small example that everybody had a huge misconception with at auburn when they hired him is that the spread franklin runs is not an option ofense. It does NOT involve a running qb and never has. the guy at troy could run but that is not in any way like what the system is about. it is about quick passing game spreading people out and running the zone in seems deep passes and route reading by progressions.
what he teaches and what rodriguez and meyer do is totally different and not even closely related.
that is why he did not want burns at qb, because he is just an athlete that does not read he is not acurate and is not a QB. you need a smart cool accurate qb to run it the way he wants.

When I first heard they hired him, I had that misconception as well, then I set out to learn the offense, and found what you say is so true. You cannot convince people of that, and today people still say "If they had only started Burns right off the bat...". I told people in the summer that Todd would get the start, and they'd say "No, you need a QB that can run!" I didn't know it at the time he said it, but this will give you a clue as to how much thought and time Tuberville really put in to this hire. After the bowl game last year he commented "Kodi will do well in this offense, Brandon Cox (our pocket passer last year) wouldn't have made it through a whole year running this offense." Hell, even Tuberville thought he'd hired a guy to run an option based spread run attack.

I don't know what the deal is with Caudle. Very highly recruited, and has never even been in the mix for the QB job. My personal feeling is he has a lack of desire, but that's just a guess. Either that or he wasn't as talented as the recruiting services made him out to be.
