Where is the line between playing hard and with emotion to playing dirty and being an a$$hole? If you have kids like this are you a bad coach?

If they are playing the game in a LEGAL manner, up to the whistle, than they are playing hard.
If they are playing the game in a LEGAL manner, after the whistle, then they are dirty.
If they are playing the game in an ILLEGAL manner, at any point in the game, then they are dirty.

Coach, keep in mind that the whistle doesn't kill the play, it signifies the play is already dead. While teaching kids to play until the whistle is the most expedient way to get they most out of them and keep them from loafing, you can still have a late hit without having a blown whistle. One of the biggest issues I have to deal with as an official is a player hitting an opponent who isn't participating because the play is over, getting flagged for a late hit, and then complaining that the whistle hadn't blown. He is doing what he was taught and is then confused why he is penalized.
Just something to think about.
