So I'm watching the game last night, and Pittsburgh is attempting a screen pass. The Jags defense does an outstanding job recognizing the screen and has players in position to blow up the screen, so Ben (not even going to try to spell his last name) drills the ball into the feet of one of his linemen. Receiver in vicinity-no intentional grounding...although it was blatantly obvious it was. Is it just me being anal, or do you defensive guys out there have a problem with the way the NFL rules are set up to aide the offense, while "penalizing" the defense. In my opinion (which ain't worth much to start with), in a scenario like this, the ball should be marked dead at the spot of the "grounding" with a loss of down. It irks me to see the offensive friendly NFL rules in action- which is one of the reasons I don't particularly like to watch it. But, it all goes back to the equation- scoring=ratings. I personally would like to watch a 7-0 defensive struggle where field position and special teams are critical and the first mistake a team makes can make or break the game than a 46-44, no defense played shootout. What do you guys think?
