We are not a team that should be 0-5. We lost 4 games in the last 3:00 min by a combined total of 14 points. First season of kids playing 11man football since school population increased. They played 8 man last year. We have 9 seniors and plenty of talent. The schools that we've lost to have been the best schools we could have possibly played and we average 3 TDs a game.
What are some suggestions we can do to help the kids from not getting down on themselves?

I tell my kids this is what is important to me as a coach: 1. Academics 2. Player's overall experience 3. Competing no matter the situation 4. Winning
The last two are in this order, because you cannot win the war unless you compete every chance you get and win every battle you are given. When we lose, I take the blame and tell them that I did not have them prepared and to plan on me being more prepared come Monday and they will work to meet my epectation of preparedness. I also ask them if they think they could find those points they needed to win, on the practice field.
Coach, it sounds like you have a lot to be proud of. If they can just stay focused and keep fighting the good fight something good is going to happen. If you can just get the program over this hump, it sounds like good things will happen. Nice Job.
And for me somewhere in there is teaching fundamentals and knowledge of the game.

We turned our season around & snagged the 4th seed in the playoffs. This Saturday we stomped the #1 seed in the 1st round. We never changed what we do and our focus has been on doing the right thing on & off the field.

We have a team in our conference that went 1-8 this year and lost 4 games by less than 30 points. They were extremely competitive but just couldn't finish the deal. We played them the last game of the season and they shut us out 28-0.

Reno, Congratulations, you evidently were doing the right things, you just needed time for the kids to learn your system. Glad to hear that you got over that 4th quarter "hump" and doing well.
