Due to Gustav, our school district will not resume classes until tomorrow.
We are scheduled to play tomorrow night.
What was left of the hurricane came through yesterday and we did not practice.
We did practice for a little bit on Monday, but with the announcement of no school, some of the kids assumed that this meant everything was cancelled..
We tried calling.. but a good bit of our kids do not always have reliable phone numbers..
We will meet today at 5pm to have a run through..
Our opponents.. did not get anything in.. they probably will try today.. but they had even less kids than I did show up for their only practice.
We had everything worked out to reschedule to satruday.. but the superintendent nixed it and said the games would go on as planned.
I feel like we are COMPLETELY unprepared for this game.. the only comfort I find is that the other team is in the same boat..
but we have had no fullpads practice.. and 4 of my starters will practice today during walkthrough for the first time this week.

sounds like there is not much you can do about this situation except go ahead a play. I'm sure your kids are well coached and play well. Sometimes no contact makes them more aggressive on game night.
Good Luck.

What do you do best? That's what you do.
Maybe you go into huddle mode a bit more often if things don't start out good. If it runs good, let the tempo take over. If things are rough to start, ride it out as best you can.
Then people settle back into your mode where everyone knows what is expected of them.
Don't be afraid to get on the throttle when the energy is there. When it clearly isn't bring things down to a level they can try to gain speed.
Have a plan for each. Find situational plays that apply to more than one demand. That will be your core calls. Three plays to slow it down and get sure yards, three more to speed it up on good tempo. Underline your red zone looks to emphasize them, get those right and you will be in the game.
Now you have a little something extra to go with the flow or to feel the rough times out. Core plays should play to either situation in some way. Red zone counts extra.

Tell me about it.. then in today's world with the pay by the minute cell phones.. they just chunk them and get a new number.. makes NO sense..

My favorite is when it's game day, and you cant find your starters, so you call them, and guess what....it doesn't work, or it's a wrong #.

if there is a positive note.....at least your kids will be well rested.......
in years past, i've seen our kids play well when weather shortens the week......especially late in the season.......but sometimes early too....

We feel for you coach espesially since it is your first full game HCing.... Good luck, they look good on you tube, hopefully since they don't have practice time either they won't be prepared for your passing game
