Well, with all the storm foolishness down here in New Orleans...all we had were local media reports all weekend. I didn't get to see much of the first week of College football.
So, can someone tell me "did I miss the debut of the GREAT INNOVATION at the college level?"

Ohio State ran it every play. Dubber..good one! I was just curious because the great and innovative creators of this offense (even though BYU ran similar stuff way back when) claimed that they had LOADS of college teams talk to them about running their super innovative offense....

Its innovative until you practice all fall with the a-11, hit nobody, nobody gets hit, then you run into a team who runs veer and power and spent all fall practice hitting, tackling and blocking..........and you cant figure out why your innovative offense is on the sideline and your defense cant get off the field.

Ohio State ran it every play. My Alma Mater, Mansfield (PA) University may be a candidate. Of course, they've dropped real football and have joined the elite five schools playing Sprint (Lightweight) football. Dubber..good one! The people of Earth once believed our world was flat...and later discovered it was round. They said that the sound barrier would NEVER be broken, and it was broken. The Innovation of the A-11 is the ultimate expression of this universal human fear of the unknown and of change... You must face the facts that it is only natural and Darwinian that football will certainly evolve into a game that looks like this! Don't fight the future!!!!

I fact, I saw some teams that came out in this funky formation; there were TWO backs in the backfield ad the QB was lined up under the center; HE TOOK THE SNAP STRAIGHT FROM HIM!! Goofy stuff, man, goofy stuff... Who's heard of doing anything but taking a shotgun snap in today's game.

You can do some pretty Innovative things with it. Buy my DVD for $19.95 (plus $3.00 shipping and handling) and you will receive a free set of ginzu knives. Offers are ending soon and supplies are limited. (I know, I know...now we're just being silly)

Coach, I can't pay for your "lowercase L" install manual, but would you be willing to trade me for my equally innovative "upside down V" offensive DVD? It also puts the QB under Center in the double tight look but I have the two backs split apart and behind the guards 4.5 yards behind the LOS. PM me to trade.

Coaches: Thanks for the question about who did or did not use A-11 at the collegiate level...to be honest, we had our own scrimmage so I got to watch only some highlights from the day. I love college football...we got some emails and calls about teams using "it" but I cannot verify it. However, for the LOUD MINORITY that believes we have not been interacting with collegiate staffs this off-season, and/or are not working with them........give me a break please. We learn from high school and college coaches regularly, as do most of you. Interesting link below about the University of Texas and their brand new "Q Package" based on the A-11 Offense: BEST OF LUCK this week Coaches!!! They even ran this play where they just HANDED THE BALL OFF TO THAT H-WIDE RECIEVER IN THE BACKFIELD. Who ever hear of such a thing; handing the ball off instead of throwing it? We were thinking about putting someone in the backfield along with the QB just for short yardage stuff. But I think we're going to use your small case L package coach. ;D

The League Champs from last year played short punt their entire first game, a trips side and an iso side. Scored one long TD on a QB keeper sweep. Like any long run, if the wr block well, you get a lot of extra yards.
Then they played us and went back to the wing I form, power all game, and they avoided getting razzy dazzy. It was our second game and players hit a wall. Nobody filled the alley they scored almost at will. We had a backup lineman in, who wasn't one. Didn't even practice as one all year, then he's one the field every play for two bad losses.
The HC wants to make him the MLB next. We probably lost half the team. When you have people who can play get no reps because the coaches play favorites, it can be like that. Went from 26 to 19 players, one of them was kicked off yesterday. Actually, that player kicked himself off the team with his actions, this was different from the other instance where a player was frustrated and a coach took his own frustrations out by telling him to leave. Now if we can only find a replacement for the true OL they kicked off the team...
Going to be a long season....

In other news, football coaches across america rejoice as they no longer need to coach fundamentals and can just teach x's and o's to their players as they razzle dazzle the opposition with formations based on loopholes in the rules and the fact that they can't get their players tough enough to play any other way.

I don't really wish ill will on the Piedmont guys. I am more interested in finding out if this loophole exploitation is picking up speed or not. I quick google news search popped up several loses by A-11 teams. Of course, that is not necessarily a knock against the system as much as it is indicative of the type of teams that are using it.

I love college football...we got some emails and calls about teams using "it" but I cannot verify it. How convenient... You are truly the master os self promotion! Here's what the article REALLY says about the A-11: "Greg Davis did contact Piedmont (Calif.) High School, home of the A-11 offense. But it’s unclear how much of that Davis incorporated into his Q Package."That HARDLY is the same as saying the Texas "Q" package is "based on" the A-11.

Coaches:
Interesting to read some of your posts, and I guess we will just have to wait and see which college teams break out their own version, where/when/how, etc. Not to worried about it, and looking forward to it when it happens.
a. We moved the ball very well in our opener, but shot ourselves in the foot way too many times in the RZ, and did not deserve the win. The other team played better and so they earned the victory.....now our coaching staff has to correct those mistakes so we can capitalize on our gains.
b. Horizon Christain high, Oregon, and Trimble County high, Kentucky each have already at least one win under their belts already using their A-11 offense....good for them.
Hope you guys are doing well too.

Just to give you an update the "upside down v" offense that I installed at my new school got our first W (the first one that they have had in two years), giving us a record of 1-1 at the new job. We had 448 yards of offense (34 of those in passing, mostly screens). My point is that any offense will work if it meets with what the kids can do. With the lack of hands (the only kids who can catch on my team are the QB and one RB) I was looking to see if there is an "N-11" offense before the season. It basically comes down to execution. I hope Coach KB does well this year and he had a great idea that caused some problems for defenses. To me, this is similar to a team in the area that ran the swinging gate offense for the whole game and caused another local powerhouse some fits. As more teams see the A-11 it seems that the offenses will have to adjust because there is no unstoppable offense (unless you have Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl) and all teams need to use what they have to be successful. I don't think that Split-Back Veer is the right offense for everyone but it gives my team the best chance to win so that is what we will use. Good luck coaches. Lochness, I was doing some searching and I found an offense called the "I" that looks like it does a lot of the same things you lowercase l offense does. You may want to look into it. PM for more info.

Not sure why this is even a topic....Why bash another coach on here...I don't know Coach Bryan from Coach Holtz, but he is doing something that we all love...This site is for learning and sharing and always has been, if he doesn't answer your questions, so be it, that's his choice...Read as much as you can, watch as much film as possible about the A11, and come up some some answers...Just my 2 cents....
