Hello all... i am new to the board and this is my first post. I searched the word 'statistics' and was unable to find what i needed, so here i am.
I am presently developing a web site for my league that will be able to track and monitor my league's statistics, featuring individual player stats as well. I would like to be able to track all major stats for both sides of the ball (including special teams), as well as a few splits. (2nd half numbers ... numbers in the red zone ...etc..)
I was hoping to have a very clear guide as to HOW to accumulate these stats so that both the offense and defensive statistics match. (..for example, if the offense has passed for 100 yards, rushed for 100 hundred yards and scored 4 touchdowns, i would like the defense to reflect those same numbers.)
I have score sheets and plenty of video, so the game logging itself will not be the issue i am looking to clear up.
I have searched the web many pages deep in yahoo and google and have still yet to find what i was hoping for. I took a trip to the library thinking that that would be a no-brainer after my web search brught me nothing, but i guess 'Understanding American Football Statistics' is not something people write about
In a nutshell, I am looking for a complete breakdown of HOW the stat was created for each position.
This is the research i must do for the permissions i will set on the web site, so it would be extremely helpful if anybody knew of anything that could help me out here.
Thanks to everybody who replies in advance. I am excited to hear your response.

this site is not about fantasy football
do some work in the forms section--there is a ton of stat stuff in there that could get fantasy football geeks up to speed
