Coaches I'm looking for some ideas for conditioning that isn't just running sprints. Circuits, functional conditioning etc. Any ideas are appreciated.

Pursuit drills on defense, Team Take offs (play run on air, and then sprint upfield 20-25) yards might fit what you are looking for. Team Kick coverage/Punt coverage. Deep Ball drills with WR/DB's
I think the best way to condition is to have an extremely up tempo practice, incorporating those things listed. Not a big fan of "conditioning" being a separate entity, other than some mental toughness benefits.

Agreed...the best conditioning is when the kids don't really have to think about the fact that what they are doing is conditioning! ;D Special teams are a great way to get some good game speed-type conditioning work in. Conditioning games are fun, competitive, and effective, too. One of our kids' favorite is tag. We break them up by position and they go sideline to sideline with the 40-yard-lines as boundaries. When we start the kids, we yell out the name of someone and that guy has to tag 3 of his teammates before they get to the other sideline. He has to do 10 push-ups for each guy who gets caught. The guys who get tagged or who run out of bounds have to do 20 push-ups. We do it until everyone in that particular group has been "it" at least one time.

I start my team off with a circuit after conditioning. It can have anywhere from 8 to 12 stations. They do each station for 1 minute and then run to the next station. After we are done with the circuit, we take 5 minute water break and get into individual skills. At the end of practice we do a sprint called "4 Quarters". Those kids who are late for whatever reason have after practice punishment. It will be one of 4 things:Bearcrawl, front rolls, duckwalk or slow backpedals. They are to go from one goalpost to the other and back. This generally works as a deterrent to being late. Early when I start coaching I would find kids would come late to miss the circuit and so I came up with this. When the season starts we go to a 12 minute run at their own pace--as long as they keep moving and no walking.
