So what will be 3 years at the end of this month I was in a car accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down. For the past two seasons I have been coaching High School wide receivers and pass game coordinator. Coaching from a chair has not limited the learning curve of my athletes. Before my accident I felt very confident from the discussion I had with a few programs that I would get an above average shot at their next GA openings. I did play college ball and coached a year at the Division II level, so I am aware of the grind and the difficulty involved with this desire.
I feel blessed for the opportunities I have had thus far, but my competitive nature is driving me to take a shot at a college job. I am willing to take anything I could get just to get involved with a program. This is a goal of mine that I will obtain. Thanks for any and all help.
I attempted to enclose my resume, but I cannot copy it to where it is presentable because of conflicting formats.
Sincerly, Matt Arcadi

Matt, I'm not a coach, however from reading your post I'm confident that you'll reach the goals you have set for yourself. The main reason for my post is to encourage you and offer support as you seek out the position you desire. I could go on and on, but in the end it would more than likely not make sense, so I'll keep it short.
Be Safe,
Troy

Matt - where are you at? Are you a teacher? Are you looking for a HS or college job? I wish you the very best - maybe someone on this board has a position that would be a fit.

I think you should go for it. There are no limitations. I once coached a kid with no legs.

Go for it!!! The Vikings brought in a guy who is in a wheelchair a few years ago to help with their kickers. He's one of the best in the business. Let your knowledge shine.

Really inspiring stuff. I wish you the greatest luck. I saw a bit on ESPN about a coach at William and Mary I believe that was in your same posistion and was very successful. His players really respected him.

Mark Speckman was born with no hands- didn't slow him down ONE single bit.. Well, I'm sure it did, and I don't want to trivialize his condition, but it definitely NEVER caused him to give up hope..
Good luck to you- a little passion goes a long way.. I'm always reminded of Steve Jobs' quote "Here's to the Crazy Ones" when I hear of a situation in which most others would say is a just a crazy dream.. Go for it- all out- balls to the wall.. You'll regret it if you don't.. I've never regretted anything I've done- regretted NOT doing a few things, but never anything I've done..
