Be careful making things like a sled. If it breaks and a player gets impaled, you are f*ed.

Gents: Unless I'm mistaken, jlt is in the UK, where things aren't quite as lawyer-crazed as they are in the US. jlt -- PM me for some ideas on DIY football equipment. You may be surprised at how far you can go with a bit of PVC pipe...

Tis true. The lawyers over here only come out if its someone you really dislike. otherwise they tend to stay in their moneygrabbing shithole offices suing the little people on behalf of big companies like IBM. Wankers.

Only thing missing is the trap door and the guy with the black hood.

shotgun 321
did that once out of 3/4" plywood sheets, 1/2" plywood, 1/2" rubber mats and 2x4's underneath
make a frame out of 2x4's - we lined up 2x4's in a tight row at each end of the platform.
We put 2x4s in the standing area about 6" apart.
we place a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" plywood on top. Wood screwed the entire thing together and then placed 1/2" playwood (3 x 4) in the middle. At both ends we used the 1/2" rubber flooring (2 x 4).
We actually dropped metal weights on these as we had no rubberized plates.
They worked okay. I left after three years but they were still being used. I'd think maybe five years would be the lift of these.
At that time, we built 4 platforms for about $150-200

The best piece of equipment I've ever used was a chute we built for less than $80 from Home Depot. Spent 30 min per day in it doing EDD's for OL/TE (on, reach, trap, pull). We continually harped on the players NOT TO TOUCH THE CHUTE. Typically, only lasts one season, rebuilt the very next spring.
