I just accepted a new teaching position for next year, but I'm not really sure how to go about the resignation process since i'm a young teacher/coach and I have never done this before. I don't plan on resigning until I sign the new contract, but I wanted to get some ideas on what I should do/say/write to the school I am leaving. Thanks for the help!

Good call on waiting until the contract is signed before resigning. As far as the actual resignation, I've done it three times and all three times a one-sentence letter has been enough. State your name and the fact you're resigning effective at the end of the school year, sign, and hand to principal.

Coach, resignations happen all the time. Its no huge deal, even though you may feel like your hurting someone's feelings. They just need that piece of paper. Also, the more formal you make it, the fewer bridges you'll burn. Some like to zing the district in their letter. Better to let sleeping dogs lie.

i would even say...
"i'm resigning upon completion of my contract"
that way there is nothing to be confused about when writing down dates.......
