This is a 'General Offense' type question, so wasn't sure where to put it. I posted something similar to this awhile back but it was buried and we didn't recieve any feedback.
We're attempting to come up with a simple shifting standard for our offense. Please let me know if the this seems logical/simple.
We were thinking of having a keyword for each formation we'll be shifting from, followed by 'to' and the final formation. The keyword will start with the same letter as the initial formation. See if this makes sense:
Pro = 'Pounce to'
Wing = 'Walk to'
Slot = 'Slide to'
Trips = 'Trot to'
Doubles = 'Dash to'
Simple rules:
1) We will always change strength(2+ rec side)
2) Wideouts will always go to the side of their final alignment (if possible)
3) Backs can be in any set that's different from the final
Examples:
Pounce to Wing Rt:
Pro Lt
........................YOOXOO.................Z

Becomes - Wing Rt
.......X.................OOXOOY.................
