How do you call your formations and alignments?
In other words do you call lets say a split formation(split backs 2 wr and 1 te).
Do you call Pro Right / Pro Left or,
Red = pro right / Blue = pro left?
I am trying to minimize the verbage in the huddle but i don't want to get into a situation where the kids have to learn a hundred different formation calls. I have already adjusted from a Numbered play calling system to a Word tag system but now I want to look at formation, motion and possible shift calls without using to many words or numbers.
Though I will not use all possible alignments in a season, I do want them available to add and remove year to year based on personnel.
I am considering 2 base formations:
1.) Pro single back formation varying H = slot, wing, tight, behind LG, QB, RG, wing strong side slot strong side and sometimes Z = Split wide stg side, slot wk side, and (out side x wk side optional).
OR
2.) 2 Back Gun Formation varying Z = split wide, slot stg, slt wk, (out side x wk optional) and Y = split w/z in slot, split with z outside, wing and tightend.

I know this has beem talked about on here before, just do a search on some old topics about calling formations.
