This is just to share, not to start spread/DW wars...LOL, but we did steal a few DW idea's for our gun run game....
These are a few clips from our last 3 games showing some of the things we did from spread. It's not meant to imply we were a super good team, (we certainly had a learning curve to become physical as a team) or that the system is the gift of gifts to football, its simply to share some ideas.
This is a inner city freshman team with inner city problems, such as quitting, inelligibility issues and very few of the kids with any prior playing experience. Due to these issues, and our starting QB breaking his hand in a $%^&*$% tackling drill, we had to be creative in finding a way to compete without making any wholesale changes, which IMO is a recipe for disaster regardless of system.
Since we had no legit or semi legit backup QB (I was training one, but he wasn't anywhere near ready), we kept our same blocking schemes up front and implemented a few SW type series by using a color for the backfield action and then the existing play call for direction/ball carrier/blocking scheme.
What this did was allow us to not rely on the passing and option game and hand it off like a more conventional offense, not my preference but necessary given the circumstances.
Here are some clips of our "auxillary plays" that turned into a nice addition to our normal offense when our QB came back from injury.

Here are some clips of our "normal" offense when the starting QB came back for the last two games. You'll notice the hand that was broke is still in big padded bandage, as a result he made a few pitches underhand that he would normally make with his left hand on the option.

Another thing obvious with the return of the starting QB was the ability to go No Huddle again, you'll notice that he is calling plays at the los and occasionally changing them, this is something that I truly believe makes any offense better when the qb has the ability to do it. Its very important in our scheme, particuliarly the option game, to be able to call it or check it as needed.
