I've been having this dream lately (well, twice total) of coaching a game, and having like 23 kids run on to the field for the kickoff, or my cornerback jumping an underneath route in cover 3 when he has deep third..
Or a dream of like 8 kids not showing up for the game, and scrambling to put together an O, D, and STeams.
Geez, it's January!!
Anyone been there, done that? Or am I officially a head case?

Nothing ever like that. You might want to talk to your doctor about changing the dosage of that medication he has you on....

I still have dreams that I'm one guy short and I have to play--despite that somehow we always win.

I have dreams like that, except I'm a player and show up late for the game! Like at halftime. Very anxious dream.

I have those dreams quite a bit, either late to the game or can't find my helmet or my players now don't wear their shoulder pads.

Mine is always I'm driving in my car, and I'm somewhere that I can't possibly get to the game on time. Wake up in a cold sweat every time I have the nightmare.

I use to have similar nightmares when I played...I would be on my way to the game and something would happen and I just couldn't get there. It was always small stuff like traffic or oversleeping. It scared the hell out of me. Haven't had those yet as a coach though.

Haha, oh I've had some right random dreams..... The most common is where it's just chaos, once we played on an "L" shaped road, and we couldnt find any kit, so I was rushing around trying to find kit, and saying stuff like "ok, Mike, you can have a pair of socks!"..... Much prefer the dreams that revolve around me, the superbowl, strong continental lager and strippers... lots and lots of strippers ! Matt

I had one where I was running late, and when I got to my locker, I couldn't remember my combination! Then I woke up.

I once had one where I was sitting in the stand watching our team play a game. It was complete chaos on the sideline. Perhaps the worst night of sleep I have ever had!

I had one where we played the state's best team and our first 3-4 plays went well then we got sacked and fumbled and they ran it back. Then we threw a pick and were down 40-0 at the half...
Oh wait, that really happened!!!

I have one where I get to the game, and I have left my call sheet at the school! TERRIFYING! I would be in trouble without it!

I had one the other night where we were playing a rival and down by a TD at halftime. My wife comes down from the stands and asked me to take the kids somewhere. I can't remember where, but next thing I realize is I'm out of the stadium, getting further away, and thinking to myself, crap the second half is about to start and I'm the OC. Who is going to call the plays?
Have also had the dreams where we take the field and it's total chaos. Kids getting hurt, not remembering plays, etc. Those usually don't happen till closer to game time though.

Wow! This sounds like the first couple games of every youth season I ever coached, lol! No scouting or any idea of what you will face, 15 players running on the field at any given time, chaos on the sidelines, missing equipment 2 minutes before the ko, having the only player who understands the play signals sent in, hurt on the first play of the game, key players late for the game or not showing up at all, cause their parents were late from work, flat tire on the bus borrowed from the hs for a trip to a football tournament-no spare-got to the game late-had the same color jerseys as the team we were about to play so had to quickly change, then make a new roster with the new numbers- oh yeah, then play the game against the local team of all-stars who you know absolutely nothing about and be competetive, lol! Not bad dreams but frightening reality, lol!

Most dreams are the opposite in reality...
My brother once told me I yelled out Scramble-Scramble during the night.

This is scary! I have had some of these exact same dreams. I am running late or can't get into the locker room. I think it is my mind's way of keeping me anal about being early for everything.

I have had these dreams for 20 years: forget my call sheet, forgot to watch film, miss the bus, loose my shoes,etc..One morning I woke up and my wife asked me "what the hell does spill the trap mean?" She told I was screaming that out all night. Gotta love this game.

My problem is that I have been coaching for 15 years. But in all of my dreams I am still playing, what's up with that? I guess that just let's me know that that' all it is a dream.
