A little insight as to why the college coaches are always looking for the "greener grass" each season. Got to get it while you can.

Ty is the kind of person that if I had a son who was looking to play college ball, I would be proud to send my son to Ty Willingham. He is a great, honest person and you never see his name on the wrong page of the newspaper. Its unfortunate that he has had the luck he has over the past 6 years. Great guy though, great coach also.

I second that! I am one of the few ND fans that wanted ND to stick with him. Right when he left ND I became a Washington fan too.

I am betting the Banker is getting a backlash. The school admin and the athletic department have all their stuff questioned and having to become public. Here the guys that are self-important enough to make such threats will take another look before they put it in writing without being willing to look someone in the eye. I really like that the Pres said "I don't remember it and don't answer such things." Touche without being a jerk in return. People who think know that Willingham is a great man and coach. What he did at Stanford was great. Weiss may turn out to be a great college HC (nothing against him) but his first two years were largely with Willingham's new recruits that he would have produced better records with also. The disunity of the last few Holtz years, Davie, Willingham and Weiss has probably hurt ND the most. Greg

Saw coach Ty at Nike COY Clinic I did in Virginia. Loved the guy and learned some stuff I could use right away. Big fan.
Had no idea he was so small, the guys tiny. Must have been a gutsy backup QB at Michigan State.

He was a wide out at MSU i think. I remember seeing the pictures of him in a 3 point wr stance.

You guys are both right. He played both QB and WR at Michigan State.

This really makes me wonder how smart this banker really is. Did he really think offering up $200,000 scholarship would sway the university to fire two men that are under contract? Give me a frigging break $200,000 would only be the tip of the iceberg to pay the buyout of Ty’s contract I’m sure. Some peoples thought process really confounds me at times.

I don't envy Willingham, it's gotta be tough to recruit in the Pac 10 when you're not USC.... His record hasn't been the best, but given time, I think he'll turn the program around. This year will be his 4th; will see what his first two recruiting classes can do. WU had a rough schedule this year; finishing up 2-7 in Pac-1o play. BUT, they played tough in all of their games; only lost to USC by 3. A few more plays go their way, and they could've been looking at .500 record.
Neuheisel didn't exactly leave the program polished for him; the college betting scandal and the issues with the AD left a stain on WU football.

Things like that make me wish I was the millionaire and then I'd send my email to the University that said,
"I will give the law school $101,000 if you DON'T fire him."

While I disagree with the booster lame attempt at influencing the outcome of a college coaches firing, it's pretty tough to be a Washington fan right now.
Here's what had happened over the past four years:
- The best in sate talent is leaving for other Pac-10 schools. - During Evey game there are major breakdowns in defensive coverages. Major! - Teams regularly plummet UW in the second half, they make adjustments that work, Willingham doesn't. - Sloppy special teams play. - Predictable offense.
There is no one that would say anything against Willingham's personal character and I for one think that is very important. But what about winning? What about improving? In spite of being able to retain a potential Heisman candidate QB, the program is going nowhere.
We have Coach Mora waiting in the wings at Seahawk headquarters. He a born Husky that understand what the program was like during the Don James era.
I love Willingham's emphasis on character, but eventually you have to field a winning team. The Booster in the article s not alone, the natives are restless.

Good Call! Coach Neuhiesel was hung out to dry by an annoumous person, thought to be a jealous booster, that was in the same NCAA Pool. Neuheisel was vilified and screwed by some local uppty schmucks, then run outta town! He got jobbed. But look what happend to Slick Rick; he sued the NCCA and got a nice payout; the Seattle crowd now realizes Neuhiesel wasn't the anti-christ (he won more games the Willingham), and now he's back as HC at his alma mater ready to seek revenenge on the field, he's also learned some lessons and has most likely lost the "slick" moniker.

On the subject of March Madness pools...we always got a Memo from the Compliance coordinator reminding us of policies and such, and specifically saying not to enter any M.M pools for $. I know it sounds cheesy, but.....
