Our team in Europe is now searching for an Offensive Lineman (preferably a Center) for the 2007 season. This season would run from March until the mid/end of July 2007. This is a paid position.
First, some background info on our team:
The Swarco Raiders Tirol are located in Innsbruck, Austria. Innsbruck is located in the heart of the Alps, and was the site of the 1964 and 1976 winter olympics. There are around 130,000 residents of Innsbruck, including 20,000 students of one of Austria's largest universities. We play around 13 games over the course of 17 weekends, leaving multiple opportunities for travel, as Innsbruck is located less than 2 hours drive from Switzerland to the west, Germany to the north, and Italy to the south.
The Raiders are a club team, we offer football for younger players starting at the age of 9 up through 19. We have four different age groups (Varsity, Frosh/Soph, 7th/8th grade, pee-wees) playing football in addition to our "pro" team. We have an operating budget of close to 350,000 Euros (about $400,000 US).
Each season we hire 6 American players to join our team as professional players. While all of our Austrian players receive benefits from playing on our team (gym membership, meals, free travel/hotels) only 1 or 2 receive salary for playing. Our Americans are expected to be our best players, our star players, and receive a great deal of attention from our players, fans, and media.
You can find photos of Innsbruck at the following website:

We've got a great facility to play our games in, 1st link is the stadium site, 2nd link is photos from our games last year:

The Raiders have won 2 of the last 3 National Championships and have been to the semifinals of the European Championship Tournament (EuroBowl) each of the last two seasons.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
1) Someone of good character and leadership qualities who can adapt to a new environment
Because we only hire 6 players and 4 American coaches, each hire is especially important. We need someone who works well with other people, someone who can provide good leadership and instill some pride in our O-Line unit, and who you think would be able to make the transition to life in Austria. It's different over here, the language, the food, the culture are all different and the 1st week is always hard for new people. We need someone who can survive this initial shock and adapt and enjoy the people here.
Over the last 6 years, there have been 11 American players who decided to come back for another season with our team. Each member of my family has been to Innsbruck more than once, and my younger brother played on our team back in 2000.
2) We need a talented player with a proven track record.
For example, our QB was a 4-year starter at a I-AA school on the East Coast.
our MLB started at Cal-State Sacramento and was 5th in the nation for tackles for I-AA in 2005. our WR last year started at William and Mary (I-AA) and spent 4 games with the Buffalo Bills in 2002. our NT last year started at Eastern Illinois and spend parts of 2 seasons on a CFL roster. We've also had successful players come from the D3/NAIA ranks as well.
We don't necessarily need former NFL players or stars from USC or Texas, but we do need players who had successful college careers, and have film to prove it.
WHAT DO WE OFFER:
In addition to the opportunity to live in one of the nicest cities in the world and the life experience of being a part of a new culture, we provide the following things to our players:
*Round trip plane ticket
*Private room/bath in international co-ed students housing (Innsbruck is a college town)
*Transportation pass (public transport is more widely used throughout Europe)
*1 meal/day M-F
*Gym membership in Bally's/24 hour Fitness-caliber gym
*Full medical/health insurance
*$1000 monthly NET salary
In Europe, the employers pay the income tax, so the $1000 (paid in Euros) is without any deductions, player will receive the full amount.
With most living expenses covered, players can save a good part of their salary, or spend it on partying/traveling.
We usually have 3 bye weeks during the season, giving players plenty of time to travel. Paris, Rome, Prague, Florence are just a train-ride away. We also will play at least 1 game outside of Austria in the EuroBowl.
If you've read all of this, I appreciate your time and patience. If you know of anyone who you think might fit what we're looking for, please forward this message to them or put me in touch with them.
