Just wondering if anybody here has ever published a book on football and how would you rank it as a way to raise funds for your program??

Very interesting concept. What kind of book you talking about? I see many possibilities here.

Coach,
I don't want to open the flood gates but it could be on any number of popular subjects. I am sure I could put together a book on 101 kickoff schemes for example or a book on trick plays. Would like to see if I can make some $$ for field equipment.

We are in the process of digging up all the info we can find on the local football team. Our stats guy and myself have been going to the county historical society for the past month or so and reading all the old newspapers etc.. our goal is to create a book or manual on the history of Dutchmen football and possible sell them for 15-20 bucks a piece. We are looking into some of the local businesses to buy some adds on the front covers to pay for printing them.

Even with the advent of internet-based do-it-yourself publishing, the cost of publishing a book can be a very expensive process, especially when you're only talking hundreds of copies. To make any money as a fundraiser, you'd have to sell at higher than usual costs.

I like CoachJDs idea. I know a local high school who has done this for their basketball program. Sold the book for around $35 but sold a ton of copies. Contact your local newspaper, sometimes if you can get them on board publishing may not be as difficult.

$8 each, then the internet site, cc fees, adds, etc etc takes a very long time to break even.

If you go the history, etc route you could make a DVD for not much in the way of cost as well.

There is a book called "Filling Seats = Dollars" by Bill Foster. The book gives several types of fund raising schemes and also how to market your program.
