click here for full storyNEW YORK (AP) -- Southern California is a win away from returning to the national title game. The Trojans moved into second place in the Bowl Championship Series standings Sunday, passing idle Michigan on the strength of a 44-24 victory over Notre Dame and closing in on a matchup with undefeated Ohio State in the title game. USC plays crosstown-rival UCLA on Saturday and a victory would likely lock up the Trojans' third consecutive appearance in the BCS title game. The Trojans have already locked up the Pac-10's automatic BCS bid, but playing in the Rose Bowl would be a letdown for USC this season. Yeah...I agree. NCAA's BCS is stupid. The problems seem to continue no matter what they try to do. Who knows? Sooner or later they will do something really stupid, like a playoff system

The BCS is not the Bowl Chapionship Series but the Bull Crap system, Michigan only lost to Ohio State and didnt USC lose to Oregon state? and they arent even ranked if I am correct, this is a screwed up and suck @$$ system, we need a playoff system!!

Not surprising that USC is #2 now...what about Florida at #4, though? I know that FSU was unranked yesterday, but you KNOW that the Seminole players were up for that game emotionally and that Bowden's staff would have a great gameplan put together...Meyer's boys had to go to Tallahassee in front of a very hostile crowd against a legendary coach and pulled out a win...no props for that? Michigan didn't struggle against any unranked teams (Penn State, Ball State)?
If Florida beats Arkansas in the SEC championship game next weekend, they should move up to #3, if not #2. No way should Michigan end up ranked higher than UF if the Gators win next week.

No way should Michigan end up ranked higher than UF if the Gators win next week. Yea that's true, because Florida really blew away Vanderbilt and South Carolina too.. And USC just completely dominated Washington and Arizona.. ;D This is the third post we have had relating to this subject. Obviously it makes for some great discussion. But I think we can all agree that if both USC and UF win out and we are left with three teams with one loss, no matter what we will have two very pissed off and very deserving teams. Time for a playoff. Maybe we should all hope for a very controversial finish, that way the heads that run college football will realize a playoff system is sorely needed.

For the record, I think that USC is better than UF.
Just surprised that UF didn't move at all.

Let's not forget the screw job Oklahoma took at Oregon. Their only loss would be to Texas. They were #7 when they got screwed by instant replay for the second year in a row. Get rid of the computers please.

These teams from the SEC just don't get any respect do they? Even if Florida wins the confence title, they probably won't get any higher the 3rd. This just floors especially given that they've beaten the cream of the SEC crop all year. I know this country is in love with USC, but they lost to Oregon State!!!! Who cares if they knocked off ND and Arkansas, they lost to an 8-4 team(that lost fo Boise State from the lowly WAC) from the Pac-10. IMO, Michigan deserves 2nd place; they play a tough schedule (inluding beating the holylivinhell out of ND) and gave Ohio State the best game they've had all year. The problem is the polls- they have no place in athletics. Who gives a crap what some moron sports writers have to say about anything.

To me you shouldn't play for the ring, if you didn't win your conference. they should add .13 for being conference champ.

Michigan vs. tOSU was the NATL. Championship game in my opinion, and I would LOVE to see the rematch. USC would not beat Michigan, and neither could FLA.
Ho can you argue that Michigan is not #2. They went to tOSU and gave tOSU all they could handle and more, and dealt with the death/distraction of a Michigan ICON. Play it at a neautral site, minus the distraction and Michigan would show they are better. I am not even a Michigan fan and I can plainly see that they are the next best behind tOSU.
