Just curious how many of you guys teach your quarterbacks to slide instead of take the hit (the exception being a first down or touchdown if he stays up).

We don't teach the slide. We'll talk about situations but with running a little bit of option, boot, and scrambles - our QB's have to do some running. They have been decent athletes and for the most part have simply run hard.

We don't teach our QB to slide, he's a really good runner with the ball and even though we dont run the option we love when he tucks it and runs.

We don't teach the slide (when you say teach I think drills) but we do encourage qb not to take the hit. So he will get what he can and step out. Or get what he can and go down.
