Now that is one heck of an offense, 500+ yards of rushing with zero rushing attempts. Can I see the playbook? I can show you video of a game where we rushed for 471 yards and had 0 passing attempts. There are actually a few clips of the game posted on _ I can show you video of a game where our fullback had 302 yards and FIVE TDS....IN ONE HALF!!! and we had 0 passing yards. (we did pass on a two point conversion attempt) anyhow, yeah, why pass if they cant stop the run? this is a prime exmaple of how it is acceptable for a running team to run the score up. If I passed for 500 yds in a game I would be accused of running up the score by the other team easy. I mean I actually had a coach one time tell me I should get a running game going in the second half when I put 49 up on him at halftime. like it is my fault the guy cannot defend the pass. please, just more old school garbage IMO. if I made the statement, why run, cause they cannot stop the pass, I would be hung on the cross on good friday.

This is true, but what about crazy teams like Purdue, Texas Tech, Hawaii, etc. that can throw and move the ball on anyone. Most of the really top teams both run and pass very well. Not too many top teams are run only or pass only teams. I enjoy watching TTEch play, anything innovative is enjoyable for me to watch. What I really like is the running game TTech uses LOL. Gotta love Mike Leach's Play Sheet about a 1/4 page of wadded up paper. He is VERY funny to listen to, a riot. Believe it or not we are using several of his key concepts for our passing game next year, so watch out LOL. Many of his ideas have zip to do with formations. TTECh though scored less than a TD in 2 games last year, they can be shut down. Hawaii and Purdue are up and down, although the rainbows scored a ton last year, they dont play the best of schedules most years and in my book at that level its about # of wins not # of points. But Jones knows his stuff and maybe thats the kind of kids he can get out there, who knows. When was the last time Puirdue won a Big 10 Title? Gotta love the name "boilermakers: though. If you look at the top teams regarding wins, you will see balance. USC-can run or pass Texas-can run or pass Michigan-can run or pass Ohio State-can run or pass Florida-same So on and so forth.

They are balanced because they have recruited the "talent" ...........(and can do whatever they want because they are physically dominant)
They are balanced because they are competently "coached" ...........(and adjust with the talent on the roster to get their playmakers the ball)
They are balanced because of their "scheme" ...........(they systematically attack opponents through game planning)
They are balanced because they can or out of necessity (to be competitive). ...........(to be the 'BEST' they are always developing, never staying the same, so that their opponent cannot focus their attack)

One could argue WHY, though I don't want to argue why anymore. If you love to run you run, if you love to pass, you pass. I think I will make another post asking a different angle on this question. Just what Mr. Huey wants. LOL
