Reading some of the double wing posts about making the power toss work got me thinking.
In your offense what is THE play that has to be established. Your bread and butter.
I'll start us off: For us it is off-tackle with the FB kicking out and the HB leading up. We double the first man inside the hole. If we can make that play work you will have a tough night b/c then our best pass comes off that same backfield action.

Inside zone.....getting a good push on the two interior linemen threats...sets up literally EVERYTHING else in OUR offense. If we can't get movement off the ball and into defenders, establishing what we intend to do on offense, it's gonna be a very long night.

Last year we were very physical so off tackle power, doubling down with the FB kicking out and BSG leading through. This year, outside veer because we have the QB to run the option well. , basically the same scheme without the backside puller and just reading the end instead of kicking him out.

24 or 25 belly out of the T formation. Sets up my counter and belly pass.

Empty backfield gun team. Our base play is to motion somebody down and play zone read. Sets up nicely our flash fake passes and boots.

Power Right/Left 25/26 Blast. Off tackle. TE gets end, tackle takes his man where he wants to go, HB first though the hole, followed by FB and TB.

Outside Zone for us. Stretches the field and makes the defense go sideline to sideline. Gets them running and pursuing. Also sets up counter and inside zone as our outside zone will get the defense to overpursue.

"The play" for our scheme is the fullback dive.
As a bone team, almost everything we do is built off them shutting down our quick dive. Almost every look we give them after that includes that to some extent. (from our triple, play action, power option with fb scrape)

I was gonna say power off tackle but that wouldn't be accurate, cause one play won't make or break us, but the ability to run inside, between the te's, somewhere, somehow, opens up the rest of the field! If a defense can shut down the inside run game, the other plays become obvious, standing alone!

After last night I'm not sure... We're a One back Fly Sweep team and for the most part they took away our sweep. Struggled to get the Dive going consistantly. Had a couple of good Gun Options (QB Keep) but what got us going was our passing game. They put 8 in the box and our slants and fades opened things up. Hit a fade to bring us to 26-27 with one minute to go - elected to go for 2 and hit the same kid (6'3 leaper!) who made a great catch, dragging the toes to put us up 28-27.
Kicked off with 56 seconds and just couldn't stop them from driving. Lost 34-28. QB had 216 yards and 3 TD but his backup threw 2 picks to stop good drives (one was after the starter had to sit out a play and the other was during his usual 2nd quarter series). We're out of the playoffs at 4-4 but should (?) win our last 2 including Homecoming next week.

ISO, Wedge, and Toss - Inside running game - Tackle to Tackle. We want the defense to condense. Then we go to work. Everthing else, Counters, PA, Option, Screens, Sweeps, Passing Game are effective if we can pound it inside.

Our play is counter. The funny thing is that the play we use to set up the counter doesn't work all that well, but the counter seems to work 10 times better.

Looks to me like the vast majority of us depend on the off-tackle power play - double wingers and non double wingers

I would say our favorite play is power. It's kind of hard to say what THE play is since we are wing-t and have 3 great backs who are all over 600 yds so far this seaons. So if we dont get 34 power working we can still hit with 45 power with two totally diffrent backs running the same play. Or we can go always power it with the FB. So this year we are kind of blessed that we have several plays to get us goiing. Now next year when we loose all 3 of those backs our "IT" play could be.....PUNT IT!

Belly (or what others call "double dive") is the foundation of our entire offense. The vast majority of our key plays come off of that:
Belly Belly Keeper Belly Counter Belly Toss Belly Handback Belly Pass Flood Belly Pass Pop
