Devin Hester returns a missed field goal 108 yards for a TD. Ties the NFL record set last year by Hester's teammate Nathan Vasher.

Wildcat - I was at the Bears game last year ( in fact a year ago today) when Nathan Vasher set the NFL record. ;D I still have my ticket stub, but after tonights game I do not think it is as special What are the chances that the same team does basically the same play two years in a row? The only person changed was Hester for Vasher....WOW! That was some good deke by Hester to set it up, and a real bad call by the Giants...

I very much disagreed with going for the field goal before it was even kicked, although who can see a 108 yard return coming? And, not surprisingly, the critics of the Devin Hester draft pick have been very quiet this season! ;D

The Bears are writing a textbook on no-nonesense approach to football.
In years past, the organization would've been blowing the Super Bowl horn by preseason. Each game has been approached like business this year and each series, the team is trying to prove itself. The attitude in the locker room for professionalism and aggressive play-calling since Coach Smith arrived, is a good case-study to watch. Now it all won't mean anything if they get bounced in the playoffs, but the approach of the organization to set themselves up for FUTURE, long-term success by emphasizing effort and short term (one play at a time) successes, is something we all can learn from.
Regardless of the score, ALWAYS keep pressing for the best result (Martz' 'Max Q' factor)......I don't remember a time when the Bears were able to score so many points and keep a killer defense on the field.

True, I had my rose colored glasses on when talking about Hester. But, I agree with the point I believe Kornheiser made last night when he said Hester is like Grossman--you have to take the bad with the good. They are both risk takers so they will make mistakes, but will make a lot of plays for you as well. Personally, I wouldn't want anyone else in the whole league returning kicks right now!

What's sad is I've watched PTI almost every day since the show began (well, not during hs football season anyway) and I still think of Kornholio every time I hear his name!

I still can't figure out why the Giants were walking off the field as soon as it became apparent the kick was short- half the team was headed to their sidelines as Hester was running out of the end zone.. Also can't figure out what the heck Coughlin was doing attempting a 52 yard field goal, down 4 with 9 minutes to go, with a kicker who missed a 33 yarder earlier in the game in that miserable weather in one of the toughest stadiums in the league for kickers.. Strange decisions on the part of the Giants.

Pat Arnold: You know gentlemen, I may not even watch the basketball game today. Bob Swerski: Yeah? Pat Arnold: I may turn my attention to the Indianapolis 500. Bob Swerski: Well, at least the outcome of that is in question. Who do you gentlemen like in a race? Now the favorites are Rick Mears, A.J. Foyt, and Gary Bettenhousen. Pat Arnold: I like Mears. Carl Wollarski: Mears. Todd O'Conner: MEARS! Superfans: Rick Mears! Bob Swerski: Now what if Da Bears were to enter the Indianapolis 500? Uhhh, what would you predict would be the outcome, huh? Todd O'Conner: How would they compete? Bob Swerski: Well, let's say they rode together in a big bus. Carl Wollarski: Is Ditka driving? Bob Swerski: Of course. Carl Wollarski: Then I like Da Bears! Bob Swerski: Sure. Todd O'Conner: Yeah, I gotta go with Da Bear Bus! Superfans: Da Bear Bus! Carl Wollarski: Bus full of Bears!

Problem is, the "window" for the Bears to win a Super Bowl is closing...in a few years, all of those good, young players the Bears have are going to want to get PAID. Angelo won't be able to keep this team together for more than a year or so. Look how much the run defense is struggling without Mike Brown. What happens if they lose Lance Briggs, Alex Brown, Tommie Harris, Tank Johnson, or (hush my mouth) Urlacher to free agency? On offense, they are trouble if Jones or Muhammed have a big year and want to cash in when their current contracts are up. If the Bears don't do it this year or next, I don't think they will be able to do it ever. I'm not sure how many of these guys have been locked up, but hopefully, most of them are at least for the next few years.

the bears disappointed me. they lost, now all the pressure is on the colts to go undefeated. I wanted the bears to be the ones with all the media attension while the colts wold then go quietly under the radar. mark it down, representing the afc in the super bowl with be the colts. a pass happy offense with a average defense, now that would be a super bowl story.
