A player died in a car accident last night....six teammates survived the crash......today is game day, and we need to decide as a team what to do....how would you handle this tragedy?

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the families involved. I would think it would be very difficult to play tonight, IMO.

Call the AD/coach for the other team. Try to postpone it till next week immediately. Have the news report the game has been postponed.
I wouldn't play the game today. There are more important things to address as minds are elsewhere not just for the kids involved, but for the teammates and family.

All I can offer is my sincere condolances for your team and the boy's family and teammates/friends. I will keep this in my thoughts and prayers.
Whatever you and your administration decide, it will be the right decision.

I too would want the game canceled. Death obviously is more important than a football game. My heart goes out to you and your team. Now, if your governing body doesn't allow the cancel, I don't know how tactless this sounds, but in some way you have to rally around your loss and dedicate it to the unfortunatel cicumstance.

Thanks to those who replied... The game was postponed until Sat. afternoon, and the kids played their hearts out, and won in overtime....afterwards, we all cried...now we get a day off...thanks.

my condolences coach. its the worst situation imaginable... not sure how i would handle it. only thing i could suggest would be for you to try and set an example for the team of what it means to be strong. throughout the season, hearts will be heavy and focus will be lost. your job will be to keep things together and help your team through it. good luck
