I'm probably in the 30-35 hour range depending on how much of my Sunday I have to give up to watching film or planning JV practices. In truth, it seemed like even more before I added it up in my head!!

40+
Because I'm neurotic, it'd probably be more if I didn't have a 'real job' to support my addiction
typical week Monday - (3) practice (1) meetings (2) film review Tuesday - (3) practice (1) meetings (2) film review Wednesday - (3) practice (1) meetings (2) film review Thursday - (2) practice (1) meeting Friday - (7) game night duties (2) film cutups/duplication (4) beer drinking Saturday - (1) meetings (4) film review Sunday - (1) practice planning (3) grade film (2) cut up opponent scout tapes for players
I figure I waste a good hour or two at "work" during the day drawing up practice plans and scouting sheets in Excel every day during game week.
Off season = 4 days x 2 hours weight room / week + 2 hours every weekend in film review & next year game / practice planning.
Not sure the extra hours really help, though, but it makes me feel better knowing I'm at least trying
My stipend was 2100 a season. Not bad for a guy who ain't no teacha.

Wow, thats hard to calculate Tog! I'm not even coaching this season and spend 10 to 15 hours a week talking, thinking, studying football related stuff. But when I was coaching "kinda full time", I had these rules of thumb for time management. #1. Boss threatens to fire me for talking too much football or leaving work too early and often for practice or games= probably spending too much time on football #2. Kids can't get my attention at home to help with their homework, cause I'm in my own little world scribbling plays in their notebooks= probably time to take a little break from football #3. Wife threatens divorce, affairs, going home to "mama's" or all of the above = I've probably pushed the limits of time allowed spent on football? los

You figure M - F, the typical coach is going to spend no less than 15 - 20 in just practices alone, no?

30-32 for me, which is much less than I used to! I've tried to be more effiecient (both on the field and in the office) with the players and the coaches. We break down the games, we coach our butts off, and try to have fun doing something we love! I'm the Dean of Students at our school so the time I used to find (as the AD) isn't always there, but we still seem to do ok.
My two oldest kids are in college - my son played for me so that was ok but I wished I had made it to more of my daughter's volleyball games! My youngest daughter is a jr. and I've already seen more of her XC races this season than the previous two years combined. I know everyone on this board loves football - just make sure you keep it in perspective.

I think the number that is a better representation of how hard we work is; work hours + football hours.
I come up with; football=30-35 + work=40....for a total of 70-75 and I am sure it hits 80 on some weeks. It would probably be even higher if I did not have a family. Good thing I love what I am doing!

Brophy +1 hour , plus one time I pee'd so high it hit the ceiling of the toilet; honest ! Well doesnt really count for us Brits, we train twice a week for 9 hours (3+6), then a chalkboard for 2 then plenty of time at "work" trying to figure out how to stop a jet sweep! I reckon 20 hours a week. But I also get up everymorning at 05:15 to commute to work, then get home somedays at 21:15..... I win, lol!

I know that I put in 20+ hours just on Sat and Sun. I have no one else on the staff right now that is computer literate enough to put in the data correctly for the scouting program so I have to do that myself. Then add up the practice time plus film after practice plus work at home, I would say it would be an easy 50 hours a week for me. Thank God we are open this week, lol. I need a break.

probably would have been more accurate to ask "how many hours do you spend doing something other than football?"

Does spending time on this message board while at work count?

Does spending time on this message board while at work count? LOL, nice way to wind down isn't it? Or to get other people's opinions.
