Coaches,
We just got a new jugs machine. I need some help.
I find the spirals are not as good as I wanted. We tried different speeds and placement of the laces. Does it make a difference? I found some footballs were better than others.
Worst thing was that it seemed to tear the balls apart. Its a new Jugs machine. The leather balls are all discolored and some have worn off a bit. Also the laces get frayed from it.
Any JUGS tips would be appreciated!!!

The first school I coached at bought a Jugs machine my only year there. It was my duty to figure out how to make it work. Since it's been 2 years I don't remember a lot. What I do remember is that one of the wheels has to be tilted. I also remember the balls that are slightly under pressure spiralled better. Just goof around a lot. That's what I did. I love the Jugs machine for kick off return and punt return practice. You can pump out the reps when you're not waiting on a punter.

Not much you can do to save the balls...They will get torn up. Use old ones. There are 2 attachment one for end over end kicks and the other for punts and passes. I'm sure you are using the correct one. Balls with correct pressure or a tad more are better. underinfalated ones do not work well. Like the other coach said, you have to play around with it to get it right.

We have had the same problems with the balls and spirals. But the big problem we have is getting power to the machine. At first we use to "borrow" electric from the contractor that was building house by our practice field but that stopped once the owners moved in. Now we are think about buying the generator. Does anyone use one? Is it worth the price and what kind should we get?? Thanks

Our staff talked about having kids in our ag shop build a cart for our machine that will hold a generator and can be wheeled anywhere with the jugs machine attached.

Tilt the wheels for a spiral...make sure that the wheels are pressurized properly.......use rubber footballs only..all inflated the same...also their are two projection devices..one for kicks, one for passes

I had bad spirals until I inflated the balls and made them pretty hard.
