Guys
I contacted a small (1AA) coach to talk about his spread offense and see what he did. I was going to buy his DVD pack and I asked if he woudl sit down with me seperately to discuss some things that were particular to my scheme. He wanted to charge me $75 per hour plus travel, lodging, and food. Have you ever heard this? He told me because the Glazier clinics pay him that, he felt he had to charge me that? Make any sense? Anyone here of this?

Sounds odd, but are you expecting him to visit you? What if you went to his place?

if he visits you - I see no reason not to charge you.
However, why on earth wouldn't you want to just visit the campus during Spring Ball?
You'd get all your questions answered and see them implement it. You could sit down and watch moutains of film with the assistants and GA's to answer your questions.....
I have never visited a Spring Ball session with any university/college that wouldn't bend over backward for a coach.

Whether he came to me or I came to him the charge still stood just no lodging of course.

I like it. When I was installing some spread packages I visited a nearby d2 school during spring ball and they gave me whatever I wanted....shoot they even bought me lunch!

Our local D-II school has given us a standing invitation to come down whenever. Their OC sat down with us and spent 2-3 hours showing us their game clips for their passing & running game at no charge. The head coach even sprung for pizza. And they lost to the D-II champions this year in the semi-finals. The staff is great and always willing to help.
I'd find a new school to work with. Or, as others said, get your material from here. There is a wealth of knowledge on this board, just tap into it.

Years ago I coached WR's at DIII in South Carolina. I ended up calling the WR's coach at USC and he invited me up and we sat in the WR meeting room. He talked football with me for hours, showed cutups, anything I wanted.
You should be able to find someone who'll do if for 100% off.

This is not uncommon at all. most of your oc's and dc's make extra money doing this.
It is sort of like bill williams fcpga but not like it. bill charges but you get 3 days worth of 12 to 15 hr days for his cost.
I know d1a coaches who charge.

Go somewhere else. Our local D3 school will literally do anything for us. Copies of their practice plans, implementation schedule, reviewed their cut ups, loaded our cut ups and helped us break them down. I find that nearly every football coach loves to talk football.

I have never heard of a coach charging people to sit down and talk with them. The only coach I have ever heard of doing this is Tony Franklin. Other then this most of the coaches I know will do it for free.

Never heard of charging anyone to talk ball. Having someone come to your place, provide playbooks/ game sheets, and install an offense for your staff is another matter.
